Re: Carrying in other states
I live in SW Montana during the summers. I carry on the road during the road trip to and from ( I can't imagine not being armed at some of the rest stops we use). Depending on the weather; when no major winter storm I go - Texas, (tiny piece of OK) Colorado, Wyoming; when there is a major storm I go - Texas, New Mexico (through tribal land, no problem with CHL), Colorado, Utah, Idaho.
My favorite 'gun law app' is Legal Heat for the iPod Touch.
When living in Montana I carry everyday. The laws allow open carry or concealed WITHOUT a license except in towns & a few usual places so there are lots of people carrying. Even with Montana's Open Carry option, I prefer to conceal although I do use a pancake style OWB rather than my usual urban IWB.
Although in the backcountry when I pull an overnight hike or carry a frame pack, I wear open with a nylon tactical holster strapped to my leg (keeps the pack waistband from interfering and puts the gun at my fingertips).
I also gun-up here switching from 9mm to 40 cal (higher likelihood of confronting a beast than a human).

Re: Carrying in other states
I have carried in OK, KS, MO, MN and AR. Iowa just changed on 1-1-11 to allow anyone can carry on their home state CHL. The next time I visit family in IA, I will be carrying. The last few years while traveling, I have been bird hunting without the wife and we usually don't even have to worry about whether it's alright to carry in a Chili's or not because there is a bar on site. I guess I've (we've) gotten kind of boring as we have gotten older...

Re: Carrying in other states
I carried in TX for several years with only my FL non-res license... Does that count.?
I did read the TX statutes however.
Some states don't post their regulations fully online, so, that makes it a bit more difficult.
Otherwise, yes... TX, OK, KS, CO, NM, NC, TN, SC, Houston (that's another country, so, that counts double, right?)

Re: Carrying in other states
Let's see...
TX, OK, KS, MO, IA, and MN on a recent road trip. Only went to one place during the entire trip that required me to disarm before entry (a BW3s in MN where the group decided to eat dinner)

Texas (home), Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida. I spend a lot of time in Florida so I did attend the state CHL training, but have not applied for the license.
For travel purposes I use the Pack-N-Go Carry Concealed Trip Planner which, unfortunately, appears to be offline at the moment.
