Carrying at DFW Gun Shows....

Post by drjoker »

Correct me if I'm wrong, but....

The Mesquite and Dallas Market Hall shows are validly 30.06 posted, as they are on private property. You can carry to the gun show, disarm in the bathroom or under your poncho, pocket the loaded magazine, and then have them zip tie your gun. As you leave, you may break the zip tie and insert the magazine into the gun under your poncho or in the bathroom. Dallas Market Hall bans loose ammo but that's just a rule not a law. Therefore, carrying a loaded magazine in your pocket at the Dallas Market Hall gun show is O.K.

However, Allen, Ft. Worth and Irving gun shows are on city owned property. Their 30.06 postings are illegal so you may carry away.

Private property, they can legally enforceable post
Public property, the issue is can a lessee legally enforceable post 30.06 or does the fact that it is government owned make it non-enforceable?
That is the test case question.

So - to find out - someone needs to carry - get caught carrying, without intentionally revealing their weapon, get arrested, take the silver bracelet ride, get booked in, prosecuted and then find out if a public property can be legally 30.06 enforced.

You want to be the test case?

I've gotta say I'm a bit amused by all this continued discussion about carrying at gun shows. To me it's just as simple as follow their rules or don't go, I choose the latter...end of discussion.

I agree with JNMAR. I shop where I'm welcome, not where they want to violate my human rights.

From eventful.com

"Market Hall is the world's largest privately owned exhibition hall with tall ceilings that are ideally suited for conventions."

Also found this on Wikipedia re: Market Hall/Dallas Market Center

"A private company majority owned by CNL Lifestyle Properties Inc., Dallas Market Center is managed by Market Center Management Company (MCMC)"
