Thanks! I've verified 2 places that had the 51% sign were not (as I thought) really 51% locations!!! This is great!

Very cool. What's the appropriate process to get those businesses' signage reviewed/corrected?artx wrote:Thanks! I've verified 2 places that had the 51% sign were not (as I thought) really 51% locations!!! This is great!

If you know/like the management (or a staff member) you can point it out in a friendly way to save them any hassles.
If not, there's a form on the TABC website to report so they can investigate. http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/forms/enforcement/4-65.pdf

Another use for this feature is to list all 51%+ establishments in a particular area (to see if there's any "surprises" in your area):
Go to the TABC website and click on Public inquiry, then click on the option for, "Create a list of licenses or permits".
Select the options you want listed. I listed the two counties of the city I live in (Potter and Randall), and left the dates blank.
Select Excel as the output format.
Open the downloaded Excel file.
Click on the data tab on the toolbar at the top.
Click on the Filter Button
Click on the down arrow on the far right column and make sure only the "Red" checkbox is checked.
Now you'll have a list of all the 51%+ businesses in the area.

This is great! Now we don't have to bother the TABC for this information. I'm sure they have more important things to do. Hopefully, this will free up some time for them.

Well, for starters the Android CHL app will get a link to the TABC search page.loadedliberal wrote:could this data be culled and used in a iOS or Android app.

Theoretically (I'm not a programmer) couldn't this info be parsed into an Excel or csv format and put into an Android or iPhone app that would use location services to search for 51+% locations near your current address? Wouldn't think it would be too difficult...

I know just enough about programming to have a lot of respect for the people dojoelamosobadiah wrote:Theoretically (I'm not a programmer) couldn't this info be parsed into an Excel or csv format and put into an Android or iPhone app that would use location services to search for 51+% locations near your current address? Re: 51% lookup now available online @ TABC website!
It could, but if you have an Android or iPhone you probably have a data plan and can go to the website and check for a 51% license at the place your family or friends want to go. That way it's up to date.joelamosobadiah wrote:Theoretically (I'm not a programmer) couldn't this info be parsed into an Excel or csv format and put into an Android or iPhone app that would use location services to search for 51+% locations near your current address?
