URGENT! Call These Senators now to support CC on Campus!

Dear Campus Carry Supporters,

I want you to take a minute and look at what our opponents are saying on their website:

http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=211 ... e1deb9f74e" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Do you see the headline claiming, “We are SO close”? That’s our opponents claiming that they’re “so close” to defeating the bill for which we’ve worked so hard.

Are you going to let our fear mongering opponents delay campus carry for another two years (or possibly forever)?

Call the offices of these five Senators BEFORE 1:00 PM today, and voice your support for SB 354:

Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr: (512) 463-0127
Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr. (pronounced gah-YAY-goess): (512) 463-0106
Senator Robert Duncan: (512) 463-0128
Senator Chuy Hinojosa (pronounced ee-no-HO-suh): (512) 463-0120
Senator Carlos Uresti: (512) 463-0119

Calling all five will take less than five minutes.

Even if you’ve already called each of these Senators fifteen times, and even if you just called them each fifteen minutes ago, call them again. Be courteous and professional, but be firm about your support for campus carry. Tell them you DON'T want to see an amendment that would allow public colleges to opt out or any amendments exempting whole campuses.

If you want to send faxes (highly recommended), you’ll find the Senators’ fax numbers here: http://www.txdirectory.com/online/txsenate" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Remember, you can use FaxZero.com and MyFax.com to send free faxes from your web browser.

Let them know you want the Senator to support the bill and oppose all amendments that are not acceptable to the author (Sen. Wentworth). This is as important as voting to suspend the rules and to vote for the bill.

I E-mailed them all, Faxed a couple, called several ... still calling etc

Today,
I'm trying to get them away from the "making campuses safer" argument and back to "personal protection/self defense" as it was intended.

Patrols increase after robbery;

Campus police have stepped up patrols around Farish Hall in an effort to prevent any further incidents following an aggravated robbery last week. Last week, a student was approached from behind and robbed at knifepoint..

Vehicle burglaries on the rise

(guns must be stored in cars currently... mine was stolen from the truck when I was STAFF at U of H ... why keep providing easy access to guns stored in cars on campus to criminals?)

If I didn't have roots here, I'd transfer to Virginia Tech, where guns aren't ILLEGAL .... just against school policy.
Or at least that appears to be the case in 2006 and 2007)
Government properties/Institutions may post "preferences" if they like ....like a city library/park/swimming pool posting an unenforceable 30.06 sign in Texas. Just don't criminalize exercising an unalienable natural right.

My and my two roommates called each. Make it happen fellas! :D

P.S. - Sen. Shapiro: (512) 463-0108

Call them as well simply because the ANTI website listed them and we need to counter that vote pool.

At work. Can't. Quietly I conferred with a higher authority to help open these Senators' eyes and see that this bill is meant to protect the sanctity of what He gave us....life.

Sending some emails to them while I can. Sitting here in a computer class at school. :cool: Got a couple of these younger guys to agree to doing the same, not sure if they are or not. But trying to recruite the best I can without making a big display, this teacher has already mentioned her distaste for these bills. :roll:
