Well it's true, but the sign doesn't carry the force of law. They're a "restaurant"; they make less than 51% of their revenue from sale of alcohol by the drink for on-premises consumption. Walk in with a gun and no CHL, it's a 3rd degree felony. However, CHLs should be able to walk right in. I say "should", because there is significant confusion regarding restaurants with a "bar" area, and flat-out incorrect signage. I've heard of arrests and even convictions of individuals carrying in "bars" that didn't have 51% signs, and of restaurants that had improper 51% signage.

I have never heard of an arrest for a CHL'er carrying in a non-51% bar in Texas, much less a conviction. Can you point to case law?

I've carried in the very same Chili's many times with no concern due to a lack of a sign=red 51% sign or a compliant 30.06 sign in conspicuous view. I'd be sad if they "rectified" the situation, too...I really like that location, their food, and their employees.
