We need your Testimony to Support HB 750 for Campus Carry!
The House committee hearing on HB 750 (our concealed carry on campus bill) is going to be this Wednesday, so we need to get AS MANY SUPPORTERS AS POSSIBLE to the Capitol.
See this thread for more info: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=43117
If you Cannot Make it and Still Want to Help: Please at least send us your written testimony, which we will print and distribute to the legislators for you!
It doesn’t have to be long—just why you want concealed carry on campus/your story, example: “I was a victim and want concealed carry on campus…", etc.
Please include your contact information (name, address, email, phone number) and what your relation to the cause is (faculty, staff, student at which college, veteran, alumni, parent, etc).
Please send your testimony to TXSCCC@yahoo.com by 8PM Tuesday (March 15th)

Re: We need your Testimony to Support HB 750 for Campus Carr
It's been over 50 years since I was there, I seem to remember staying at a motel down the street, seems like it was a dirt road, and a covered wagon ...
but seriously, can anyone suggest parking locations/cheap motels, or ? I probably can't make it, but I might get a wild hair and show up if I don't have to take care of my niece..
If E-mailed ... you want it plain text, RTF in the body of the e-mail?
Or attached as .DOC or .TXT ?

With SXSW in Austin until the following weekend (20th of March), in-city motel rooms are very difficult to come by. Best bet would be to stay outside of Austin (Bastrop, Georgetown, San Marcos, Fredricksburg, etc. depending on your starting point) and drive in for the day.

Good point. Best not to pay Austin Motel Tax too since they boycotted Arizona.GAM wrote:With SXSW in Austin until the following weekend (20th of March), in-city motel rooms are very difficult to come by. I had not thought about this, but it makes sense. I will send you my written testimony tomorrow.RPB wrote:So I sent my written, I'll see if I can be there too, I'd sure like to be there and watch.Douva wrote:Unless you have a particularly compelling/unique story, written testimony and position cards are the way to go. John Woods was nice enough to provide a document on how to testify at these public hearings on the two links provided in that topic thread "Guide to testifying before the Texas Legislature" I linked to above, even if that wasn't his motivation for doing so. Do position cards for all bills if you go.

I'm guessing it's too late to do a card on Parking lot bill.Scott Lewis · Austin, Texas
HB 750 – Would remove the law prohibiting licensed concealed carry at Texas colleges and would prohibit Public colleges from creating administrative policies restricting licensed concealed carry. PRIVATE colleges would be allowed to create such administrative policies only after consulting with students, faculty, and staff.
HB 86 – Is very similar to HB 750 but does not CURRENTLY include the provision allowing private colleges to create administrative policies; however, the bill’s author has repeatedly said that he will amend the bill to include that provision.
HB 1167 – Is very similar to HB 750 but applies only to community colleges and junior colleges, not universities.
HB 1356 – is very similar to HB 750 but applies only to faculty and staff, not students.
SB 354 (not mentioned in the article) – is a senate bill filed by Senator Jeff Wentworth and is virtually identical to HB 750.

My rep. Is an idiot. He's the one who wants to impose a 1cent per ounce tax on soft drinks made with high-fructose corn syrup. So, he'll vote how his party votes.
The one in the district next to mine has told me he is voting for the bill.

HB681 is the parking lot bill in the House, but be advised it's assigned to a different committee than the campus carry bills.RPB wrote:I'm guessing it's too late to do a card on Parking lot bill.

IIRC, the watercraft bills are HB25 and HB77, and are in yet another committee.
