Would it be gaining any momentum if it wasn't a congress woman? What if it was little girl shot to death by SWAT members?..oh wait, no. Hardly heard a word.

Especially ban "high-capacity" vehicles so when they crash, fewer people are injured/killed. Ban Buses, Vans, Trains, Airplanes, any vehicle capable of holding more than two passengers (including the driver).pbwalker wrote:And drunks behind the wheel of a car killed over 6,557 Texans in the last 5 years. When should we start to call our legislators to ban vehicles?Oldgringo wrote:No PB, hi-cap mags did not kill the many innocents at Ft. Hood and Tucson. Lunatics driven by their religion and personal demons, with hi-cap mags, killed the people.
Also since we don't "need" it, we should ban candy, with an exception for anybody who's diabetic, who will be able to purchase small amounts of 'emergency' candy with a prescription and a 3-day waiting period, as long as each individual piece is serialized and registered with the government. Also, we need to close the "candy-store loophole", where people are allowed to freely purchase candy without a background check!

You'll need a law that parents must secure their prescription candy from the kids, ...some sort of locking mechanism ...

Would there be a "Halloween exemption" on it?
Would all the drug manufacturers be dressing like this:
and using orange midgets as as candy pushers?
What would all the rap songs be about?
"Makin' all kinds a deals
in my Mercedes Benz
runnin from the cops
'cause a mah M&Ms"

That was quick. Almost like she knew in advance what was going to happen.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

But when a republican uses crosshairs instead of bullseyes, that's dangerous and irresponsible. Please.

My favorite saying I learned from Andy .......... Pot, Kettle
They "swung first" and "gave the idea"/taught the others what to do ...
If they used Star of David symbols, maybe a nut would use kung fu throwing stars
If they'd have used pushpin symbols, perhaps some idiot would use a nail gun .. yeah sure blame the map.
If they used ...
It's always the fault of some inert object ...
(inert isn't the exact word I wanted, but I haven't had coffee yet)
inanimate? ... maybe ... I need coffee ...

I am sure that all of this propaganda is pre-packaged and just waiting on the right tragedy to be released on the public.Ameer wrote:That was quick. Almost like she knew in advance what was going to happen.

McCarthy is going for broke this time.

Under this bill, I wonder who takes possession of all your high-cap mags when you die? Probably the same people who take your money when you die - the gubmint.

Might want to think twice about stocking up on high-cap mags as a business investment this time. If you don't them for your own guns, you'll own a lot of non-transferable gun parts.Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s (D-N.Y.) bill also goes further than than the assault weapon ban that expired in 2004, outlawing the sale or transfer of clips that hold more than ten rounds, even those obtained before the law takes effect, according to a copy of the bill obtained by POLITICO.
The bill closes a loophole in the expired assault weapon ban that let gun owners buy high-capacity magazines made before the ban took effect in 1994.
The bill carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

Re: Carolyn McCarthy readies gun control bill
Just home in the last day, four days post knee surgery in a hospital that doesn't have any 30.06 signs, that I noticed anyway, but if you try to access TXCHLFORUM from there it comes up blocked because the site pertains to "weapons."
I am sending them mail, both electronic and paper about it, directly to the CEO.
-----------------------------------------------------
So after four days of being held incommunicado I get home and find the same old stuff, anti-gun forces marshaling around to dance in the blood of the victims.
Legislation to "protect" our legislators by establishing some sort of rolling 1000 foot gun free zone around them, which should be compared to the effectiveness of the 1000 foot gun free zone, and the question should then be asked; "How's that working for you?"
And then of course Carolyn comes up with an addition to her attempt to ban something that doesn't get used enough to justify such a ban, an addition that will ban "high capacity" magazines once again, legislation that didn't work the last time we had it, and make it retroactive to forever, which I see as "ex post facto" despite the explanations of others on this forum.
And then a political ad that uses a ploy that has been around for a very long time, "targeting" certain areas, set to graphics, and suddenly it was an "invitation to mayhem" because it was a "rifle sight" superimposed on the various states. And a newsie last night, althougn never really on our side in the past, says that it was not a "rifle sight" but just crosshairs (as if their was that much of a difference.
One has to wonder if these people have ever sat back and taken stock of themseleves ala Robert Burns:
"O would some Power the gift to give us
To see ourselves as others see us!
It would from many a blunder free us,
And foolish notion"
