.380 ammo
I saw a thread not long ago where it seemed .380 ammo was getting back to reasonable... looked at Walmart and Academy the other night and best I saw was $16-$18 per 50 rd. box. I need to break in a new BUG but didn't want to deplete my .380 ammo reserves.
Where were the decent prices I was reading about?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: .380 ammo
Those are the most reasonable prices you'll ever find. It's never gonna' be the most popular round or the most manufactured, so supply and demand dictates high prices. Now the "back to reasonable prices" that you hear of is face value and not scalper's prices that lots of folks have been paying up until recently. What kinda' bug you got?flechero wrote:I saw a thread not long ago where it seemed .380 ammo was getting back to reasonable... looked at Walmart and Academy the other night and best I saw was $16-$18 per 50 rd. box. Yep, $16 + tax is as good as I have found. I have noticed the selection at that price has gotten better.

Re: .380 ammo
If there is a Gebo's in your area, you might check their prices. I bought some in Lubbock a month or so ago, for $14.99. I believe the brand is Black River, or Black Rock, something like that, made in Fritch, Texas. Pretty dirty ammo, but good range fodder.

I paid about 15-16 for a box of Tula ammo at my local walmart. I too had to break in a pistol. The prices i have seen are about as much as i pay for a box of .45 fmj.

I dont know about your local walmart, but mine has 100 round WWB ammo for $32. With that price, I dont see the reason to buy cheap steel cased russian ammo for the same amount.cubbyjg wrote:I paid about 15-16 for a box of Tula ammo at my local walmart. Re: .380 ammo
It's frustrating... I still have lots of boxes with $9.99 price tags intact. And it's not that old. I bought another P3AT to replace the one that was lost.
I guess I'll just have to suck it up and pay big money for little rounds. ...lol

I was at Walmart last night and saw the same thing. Guess which ammo I went home with?bigred90gt wrote:I dont know about your local walmart, but mine has 100 round WWB ammo for $32. Even if it is $2 more per 100 rounds, your extractor will thank you.

Re: .380 ammo
Yes i would have picked up WWB but they were all out. The ammo is okay if you cant find anything else. I had a few FTE but i figured it was just part of the process of breaking in a keltec p3at. Shot some speer gold dots and it worked flawlessly so im not worried.

Cabellas has Federal American Eagle 380ACP 95 GR FMJ for 14.99 box/50.
Very clean burning ammo.

Re: .380 ammo
The issue with .380 was getting it. Collectors Firearms where I got my .380 would only sell me 2 boxes when I got the gun, that was it, no more. Later a few weeks later when I returned to buy some more and told them I had bought the gun here, it was sorry, can't sell you any more.
Now they will sell me .380, but at a price.
I had never seen .380 at Walmart till a few weeks ago.

Order online from Wrigley Ammo. Best prices anywhere. The shipping is less than you would pay in Texas tax.

Re: .380 ammo
For anyone interested, I found a decent deal... paid $11.95 for 50/box After freight and tax it was still $3 per box cheaper than any of my local retailers. ammunitiontogo.com
50 box is $11.95 or 500 for $114.95 and 1000 for $219.95
They had specials in almost every caliber.

Just to post another cheap remanufactured source I've seen: http://www.usaammo.com/380-Auto-100-gr- ... -P217.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Same price as above poster...if you have a bunch of friends order ammo at the same time, could split shipping to make it a lot more attractive.

Re: .380 ammo
I found some Hornady Critical Defense in .380 at a little gun store in Noonday, TX. They were $12.95 for a box for 25. I bought two boxes. Thought that was a fair price for carry ammo.
