Need a contact in the Katy Cinco Ranch Area
I have a friend in the Katy Cinco Ranch area who is interested in obtaining her CHL. I am not familiar with the area but I figured some of you fine folks would be able to help her out.

There are no public shooting ranges real close to Katy, so she will probably have to travel a bit for that part, regardless of who she uses.Taxman wrote:I have a friend in the Katy Cinco Ranch area who is interested in obtaining her CHL. Personally, I went with Memorial Shooting Center for my CHL. It was a really good and informative course (taught by an off duty LEO). They also have other classes that are exclusively for beginning female shooters, which might be of interest if she is new to shooting in general. Memorial Shooting Center is the closest public range to my house (real close to Seven Lakes High School) and is about 30 minutes away.

If in the Cinco Ranch area then I'd think that American Shooting Center's would be the closes place to go. Though I tend to go to another range closer to my house, ASC is where I ended up getting my CHL class done as well. Good range, great CHL instructor.

I live in Cinco Ranch. I used KatyCHL. I was very satisfied. My son also used them for renewal. One can Google them on the web. I think they teach the classroom portion at Bass Pro Shop in the Katy Mills mall now. I also know CHL classes are offered at American Shooting Center in the George Bush Park, and at Tactical Firearms on Mason Road. All three are very convenient to Cinco Ranch.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the classroom portion of a CHL class would be taught at a place that is (arguably) posted with a 30.06 sign?edmart001 wrote:I live in Cinco Ranch. I used KatyCHL. Referring to the separate current thread on Katy Mills Mall.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will pass the word along and hopefully we will add to our forum membership as well.

I'm in Katy and took my CHL at http://www.chlnow.com. They're located at Hwy 6 and I-10; one day classes 7 days a week. The shooting portion is the same day at an indoor range near Memorial.
