Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
I ride a HD touring bike. Almost everyday and take trips most weekends, weather permitting.
I carry 24/7. Find a tuckable IWB you like and you're good to go. The most difficult decisions for
most folks is whether to get Kydex (plastic) or leather and how much they're willing too spend.
Remember the old adage: "you get what you pay for.' Good luck.

I'm wondering how long until someone posts the pic of the guy riding with an AK slung across his back.

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
Hello ... interesting question and some good posts from other members. Here's my 2 cents worth. I carry 24/7 and ride a scooter and bicycle for almost all of my transportation needs. Since I carry 24/7, I have gravitated to carrying the same weapon (a kimber pro 45 semi-auto) inside my waistband. It's important for me to know that it is always there and that I have practiced getting it out of the holster quickly. I don't worry about falling as the bruising that I might get from the pistol would probably be the least of my worries if I fell at speed. In a nutshell consistency has become my watchword when carrying ... I don't want to have to think about where the pistol is located when I need it. Welcome to the forum.

Does it have to be a guy? And an AK? And the back?gigag04 wrote:I'm wondering how long until someone posts the pic of the guy riding with an AK slung across his back.
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
Hello and welcome to the forum.
I ride a cruiser and while I don't always carry when I ride (can't carry at work for instance, and don't want to leave the gun in the saddlebag all day) when I do I've found the Crossbreed holster to be great. I carry a Ruger SR9c or a RIA officer's 1911 in .45ACP and haven't found either to be uncomfortable or to have any retention problems. The Supertuck also conceals well if you have to wear a shirt tucked in.
Ride safe.

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
IWB or fanny pack.Given that I wear full gear all the time, I can’t figure out how to incorporate CC
I figure the fanny pack is probably better than IWB in the event of an unscheduled dismount from the bike.
Oh, I ride a cruiser with hardbags and I don't like the idea of leaving anything valuable in them.

Honda VFR…Sport Touring bike
First off, get a real bike
Easily removable tank bag works best, that way if you go down, not a question if but a question when, then you won't have that to deal with. Make sure though that the tank bag secures well not only to the bike but to itself.
Then by a new Harley and life will be good. Get a couple of sidecars for the family and life is better!

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
I ride a Goldwing and average about 1,100 miles per month. If I'm going someplace where I will be able to move the weapon to IWB without notice, I prefer to carry in the inside left pocket of my riding jacket (in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster) and then move to IWB when I dismount. Otherwise, I'll holster IWB at 4:00 in a Tucker Texas Heritage.
I prefer to carry in the jacket because if carrying IWB, I'll have to completely unzip my jacket to get to my weapon. This is because my riding jackets are all fairly tight around my waist so that they won't "ride up" in the event of a fall which is good for the protection they are supposed to provide, but not so good for getting to IWB carried protection of firearm sort. When carrying in the jacket, I'll only have to unzip enough to get my hand inside the jacket to get to my weapon. Occasionally, when I'm only going to be off the bike for a short while, I have left the weapon in the jacket and just carried or worn the jacket. (Examples of this might include a gas stop with bio-break, quick fast food meal, etc).
Like others, I figure any bruise from my firearm will be the least of my worries in the event of a fall.
I carry a CZ-75 D PCR, which is a large weapon for any sort of pocket carry (and may be about the same size as your XD), but I've been able to do so successfully for several years in three different riding jackets. I use the Nemesis that is sized for the Glock 19. It is inexpensive, holds the weapon upright, protects the weapon, covers the trigger well and even keeps most of the rain off the weapon in the event of that sudden unexpected downpour while riding.

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
I know your not asking me but I have a "C" as well. I just havent carried it yet (still waiting on course).ghostrider wrote:not to stray too far off topic, but how do you like the SR9C?I carry a Ruger SR9c
Im no pistolier and all ive got to compare it to is a few K frames, my P89, and an XD but i LOVE mine!
Feels very nice in the hand, points like an extension of my body, and I think the trigger is just fine.
Its deffinately more accurate than im capable of shooting but I dare say im a much better shot with it than any other ive shot/owned.
For what it is, at the price offered....its a home run. A dependable working mans firearm that is priced accordingly (in other words..a typical Ruger product)

I am actually NOT a bike snob, it's just that I can only justify one, and I needed the best all around bike I could get. I make mention of the bike style more because my riding style dictates my gear choice (fairly snug fitting leather/textile), as well as my carry position opportunities (jacket zipped to pants, so as mentioned by edmart001 it makes IWB hard to get at). I will look into the inner jacket pocket potential...i have some room in the chest area to conceal.
As far as going down with it...It makes me nervous because one incident I had, my worst injury was a puncture wound in my thigh from a key....ouch.
I wonder if I can learn to shoot with riding gloves on

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
I like it a lot. I've had the full size SR9 for a couple of years and just loved it so when the "c" came out early this year I knew I was going to end up with one. It fits my hands nicely and is small enough to conceal well IWB which is how I prefer to carry. It's just slightly bigger than a G26 which is another small 9mm I was considering, but I am a Ruger fan and prefer to buy American when possible. I've got several hundred rounds through the gun with no problems, it's very accurate and easy to shoot and the trigger is much better than the full size SR9, although that improved with use. Both the full size and the compact field strip and clean very easily. The SR9c has actually pretty much replaced the RIA as my primary carry, not saying anything against the Rock but the Ruger is a bit smaller and lighter. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a good look at the SR9c for anyone who is looking for a compact 9mm. And if .40 is your thing, Ruger recently announced that they'll be producing an SR40, so I imagine an SR40c may be in the future.ghostrider wrote:not to stray too far off topic, but how do you like the SR9C?I carry a Ruger SR9c

I don't know. I've heard that 8 out of 10 Harley's sold are still on the road.HarleyDave wrote:Honda VFR…Sport Touring bike

The rest made it all the way home
J/K. Whatever you ride, ride hard and be safe. Hope to see you on the road

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?
common guys, just having a little bike humor. I ride with all sort of bikes, not just Harley's. Luckily I get mine home all the time, doesn't leak oil and I ride 93 miles round trip daily. It has served me well. Not issue with other bikes though. my .02
