Patriot,
I'm so glad you asked these good questions.
We are all feeling for our boundaries in a modern society marinating in ancient sin.
As a woman, it would be very hard for me to know that another woman was being beaten and do nothing to immediately stop it, especially with a gun on my hip.
BUT (and this is a really big BUT), we mortals rarely know the whole story. My CHL instructor once said, "you never know... it could be an undercover cop attempting to arrest a high-priced call girl!"
Usually, it's garden-variety domestic violence, but this problem is bigger than a gun. Everyone that has posted is so right--this is a highly dysfunctional relationship. Unfortunately, she will go back to him and will make excuses for his actions. If you were to shoot him in her defense, you may find yourself in civil court against HER, even if you make it past criminal charges.
Here's what I've decided to do if I run across this in public:
Ask her if she needs help. If she agrees to it, call 911 immediately, but keep distance from situation.
(If she appears unable to reply due to injuries, etc., then assume permission is given, per Good Samaritan law, and call 911.)
I take mental notes & be a good witness.
If BG decides to turn his energy toward me, or a relative/close friend of mine, then my gun is warranted.
(And if anyone sees a fallacy with my reasoning, please post. I'm much more amiable to open rebuke here at the forum than from a BG's attorney.)

You're very welcome Venus Pax! I didn't realize that a situation would arise so soon after getting my license. I am glad it has though... better to be prepared and a situation thought out before acting.
BTW, I must ask.... what does Venus Pax mean? If you can/will answer that is.

Just kidding. If home is where you belong, then so be it. As for me, every week I see East Texas , LA., MS., and part of AL. at least twice. I have actually been in every state (the lower 48 that is) at least once since I was 18. It's God's country... that is fer sho!

No sir I am not kidding.
Never had the opportunity to go anywhere as a growing up kid. When the wife & I married we struggled for several yrs to just to feed family. My kids never knew AC even in school until we came to Lufkin in 1985. Wood heater w/ an oven in the stove pipe heated the house, made coffee & bread. We did have a stove top.
30 yr old story. Mid 70s. Daughter 3yr. We are visiting, eating popcorn, playing 42 w/ friends that are in the same place we are. The ladies are "planning a trip to Hawaii".
Evidently the girls could tell I thought it silly. One says "you wouldn't want to go to Hawaii?" This was the 1st time I used my saying.
No! I haven't seen all of Cass County yet.
OH you are just a homebody. They began playing & joking about the homebody.
Daughter just learning to talk & after a while she comes through singing
Daddy dis a home---bo-ee. Daddy dis a home---bo-ee.
That stuck & my 1st nickname was Homeboy 20 ys before it ever started in the 90s.

Great story LT.
Well, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, IF you are wanting to see the country... maybe someday you'll get that opportunity. It sure is a beautiful place! I just don't understand folks that want to be "world-travelers" and they haven't taken the time to see the great ole US of A!
Have a great day!
