Well according to Fox news if you have a CHL and are stopped for a traffic violation, they will automatically know if you have a CHL and will call for backup and surround you with a dozen police cars. Fox news was doing a pretty good job of telling how crime has decreased since so many people have applied for and gotten CHL's. The next part of their story was telling about how many women are now arming them selves. If you are thinking of getting a CHL, they went on to say, you might want to consider the cost and they gave a list of the costs for the class (10 hrs of your life) $110.00 (not true for me) the DPS fee of $140.00 (also not true for me :senior) an hour of actually shooting (where did they come up with that one?) and the last thing was about the LEO encounter that you should expect. What is wrong with these people? This was on newscast of 6/6/10 at 9 pm news I normally watch rescue me at that time but was interested to see how they would handle the question: Do you have a gun in the house? Poll was last time I looked 86% yes 18% no. Maybe someone who has had an encounter will LEO and NOT been surrounding by police cars and NOT had the swat team called because of a traffic violation and having a CHL, should call Fox news and tell them they need to retract that bit of untruth.

On the whole they did a pretty good job. They proved the case where in a couple of recent local incidents having a gun kept a bad situation from getting worse. Micheal Berry even challanged the anti-gun guy to come up with a recent incident where a Texas CHL guy made a situation worse. The anti had no arguement.

I don't know where they came up with that part at the end , where they claimed it will take more time at a traffic stop.

I saw the program and even recorded it. As said, they did a pretty good job UNTIL that last part of being surrounded when pulled over. I have been stopped only a few times. I have NEVER been surrounded. I have ALWAYS been treated very nicely and it was never an issue that I could see from the officer. I find that part of the report was poorly done in my opinion.

When did FoxNews turn into CNN? And per banning the 2nd ammendment because of presidential assinations: I wouldn't be surprised if Obama gets shot at by the end of his tyrranical reign over the new motherland. But what scares me is that if he is killed by the hand of a gun, the second ammendment will be appealed by the liberal government. Does anyone still remember why the 2nd ammendment was introduced?! Like I heard on W&J this morning, "If a conservative doesn't like guns, he just opts not to buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, no one should be able to buy one." Not far off these days.

KRIV appears to be stuck on using Chris Tritico as a legal advisor. Unfortunately, he seems to be woefully ill-informed on the subject of CHL. This was the second appearance he has made recently, and in both cases he presented inaccurate and mis-leading information as fact.
I have sent them a note suggesting they try contacting Charles Cotton for correct information and also that they stop using Jim Pruett.

How would they know you have a CHL until you show the officers your DL & CHL? ChL is not tied to the DMV for license plates.

My thoughts exactly. I was when I heard that. Like , what did they just say? Wondering where they get their info and don't they even check stuff out before they broadcast it for the world to hear. Bunch of idiots.

Twice when I've been pulled over I forgot to inform the officer that I was a CHL holder, and he asked if I was carrying (on his initial approach). I had to apologize. He apparently ran my name.

It does come up when they run your name through TCIC derived from the registration. We've had several threads discussing that fact.
