Ellington Field is a military installation. Federal facility = no carry.

Ellington Field is owned by the city of Houston.

I have no idea whether it's legal to carry there or in what parts. I have never set foot in the place.

I haven't been to the airshow in a few years...We used to go every year until my Dad retired and moved north...

Last I saw, or heard, they were wanding people coming into "controlled" entry areas to the tarmac...I'm not sure if that is done anymore...

I am not sure if I saw any 30.06 postings...

I am also not sure of any shinanigans outside in the parking areas either...So I do not think any serious issues with crime are prevalent...

But, if you must carry "to" the event, I would recommend getting a vehicle safe, lock it up, and enjoy the show...

In my opinion (observation) there is a little higher caliber citizens that go to these things...

I agree. I'm not worried about the crowd. I was just curious. I'm definately keeping it in the car locked up.

The land is owned by the city of Houston but there are Feds / Military instilations still there as they lease portions of it from the city. Plus NASA too! The "neighboor hood" isn't realy much, business mostly. Not walking distance from any apartments or housing spots where gangbanger activiety might be prevelant. Just to be safe leave it locked up in the truck!

Federal Facilities, as defined in 18 USC 930 are buildings or portions thereof. NASA does have a Federal Regulation that covers their real property, not sure how that relates at EFD.

However, this could be considered the secured area of an airport, especially if they have metal detectors, etc.

Just a thought. Anyone have better info?

Maybe because I live close to an air base (Carswell) I realize that I don't have to go to the air show to see the air show.

Unless you must go up and touch a plane, stay on civilian ground and park the car to watch the planes fly, then you have no worries.
