The problem that I had with Pre-Paid legal (when I signed up for the service about 10 years ago) was that the required your Social Security number. I don't like giving that out unless I'm getting paid, so I refused. I told them that I wanted them to use some other number as my identifier, they refused. They said that it HAD to be the SS number. I quoted the Privacy Act, they actually had the nerve to say that they were ALLOWED to require that number in order to provide services. This was what I got from several people I talked with at PPL. I kinda figured: If they don't know the ins and outs of that simple law, then I don't want them.

I signed up with them at the end of my CHL class, we were basically told that if we ever have to use our gun in self defense that they would represent us in any criminal or civil trials that would follow, free of any charges other than the yearly "retainer" we paid to sign up. They're able to do this because they have XXX number of clients and only have to represent a small handful (maybe 2 or 3) clients per year. Plus they had a hot chick shooting a fully automatic AR at the beginning of the video, and I'm a sucker for hot chicks shooting full auto. It seemed like a good bit of "insurance" at the time, I hope I never need them but I'll definitely do some more research when my 1 year renewal comes up next January, just to see if there are any better options out there.
