Not having a round chambered works nicely when an animal is just looking at you, but for a moving threat, I've rather have one in the pipe. If he's got a CHL he should have been taught that is class.

I don't agree!! Anyone not carrying one in the chamber has the wrong handgun and should replace with one that he is comfortable with.

There is no circumstance where an empty chamber in a semi-auto is justified.

You mean a lot of folks don't agree on having a round chambered? I would think they would really be in the minority.
If i have to yank mine out i don't want to be trying racking one in under a lot of stress that you would be under.
The way i look at it is split seconds could mean the differance.

Country or isolated road/footpath, yes, city street I think not, but what are coyotes and snakes doing on city streets any how? (The two legged coyotes and snakes, huh?) I carry a Beretta Bobcat .22lr around on my property for shooting snakes, rats, etc. Does this mean I am under powered? Seeing as how the .380, some think, isn't enough lead to kill a coyote. Guess I will have to just make my shots, well placed, between the eyes.

I agree 100%. A friend of my is a CHL in Georgia and was in town a few weeks ago. When we went out he was *shocked* I carried one in the pipe. I told him I was shocked he didn't carry it loaded.

The bottom line is that there is no rational reasons to not have a round chambered; fear, unfamiliarity, or discomfort are not rational reasons.

Wow, I can SO see a future endorsement deal in Gov. Perry's future! Anyone who loves their dog is alright by me.

I have been debating getting a LCP for summer carry when I cannot carry the Glock 30 or LCR, this just might seal the deal for me.

For the snake, you might have to use the necessity justification, but the coyote about to attack a domestic animal is specifically authorized in Health and Safety Code 822.013. Anyone seeing the attack is authorized to kill the coyote. It doesn't even have to be your dog.

OK. I did see that. For some stoopid reason, I thought he charged the 'yote in an attempt to scare it off first, then dispatched it when it didn't run off.

I was under the impression you "charged" the magazine with rounds before you loaded the gun. Or do you load the magazine and then "charge" the gun by chambering a round?
