Doesn't pass the sniff test, since he just launched a statewide TV ad campaign on Tuesday.

I'm still not sure, as I don't have enough information on all the candidates. The NRA sent some post cards to members for the upcoming election, and they basically say that they want the candidate to respond with their thoughts on 2A rights.
I'll check my mailbox every so often and see what comes back, if anything.

On another note, since Vincente Fox may be out of work soon, maybe he would be willing to take the governor's job for $3 per hour--cash. j/k

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Well, what it sounds like is that he (Kinky) wants to legalize pot...

So for what that is worth, I think thats what some folks over there meant by that...

And yes, this morning was the first I saw of any traditional political ad from his campaign...

Yeah, it smells...But it does make the decision a little easier...

You may still have to hold your nose though...

I've sent Mrs Strayhorn an email inquiring as to her stance on 2A rights. It will be interesting to see how she responds.

So do I.

I don't want to smoke pot, but I do want to stop paying for law enforcement, courts, and prisons for people smoking a weed that grew naturally throughout North America until the marijuana eradication program of the 1930s.

The War on (some) Drugs has been a greater threat to civil liberties than anything ever proposed by the leftists.

I do not want pot easier to get for my 10 year old daughter, nor do I want it legitimized.

I have first hand knowledge of pot and how it IS a gateway drug.

PLEASE!!!!!!

beer is a gateway drug for liquor...

what's the difference? all of them are drugs, and cigarettes are proven to be more harmful for you than marijuana is.

or how about

slingshots are a gateway activity for bb-guns
bb-guns are a gateway activity for rifles
rifles are a gateway activity for handguns
handguns kill people

so we need to outlaw slingshots
GREAT. So lets just add one more to the mix.

What a load of added regualtion. fixed it for 10 YODR.

That is just not true. I love these facts without proof.

I back Kinky! Pro 2nd amendment & pro common sense.

"We have more people in Texas living in prisons than live free in either Vermont or Alaska. Sixty percent of those prisoners are non-violent, and many of them could be in treatment centers. Meanwhile, every neighborhood knows of a sexual predator that's out there in their
neighborhood, and those are the ones we should put in prison and throw away the key. Drug users are not the threat that predators are. If I find you with a marijuana stash, you're going to prison, but that's not
necessarily the case with predators. All of this is just common sense."

How easy is it for your 10 year old daughter to get tobacco and alcohol?

Why would decriminalized pot be any easier for her to get than those other drugs?

Hard facts are almost impossible to obtain on this topic. Those who want it decriminalized claim it is less harmful, those who don't claim it is more harmful. Both sides cite "studies" conducted to specifically support their claims.

Personally, I think it ought to be legalized, controlled like alcohol & cigarettes and taxed twice as heavily as either one of those.

As to it being a "gateway drug," that argument pre-supposes that it is illegal. When it was NOT illegal, use didn't lead to stronger drugs. Now that it IS illegal, it DOES lead to stronger drugs. Perhaps it is a gateway drug BECAUSE it is illegal. Perhaps the simple use of it makes users less sensitive to illegal drug use and that is WHY it acts as a gateway drug.

Legalizing MJ also assumes the public is responsible enough to use it correctly. We already know they can't use alcohol responsibly enough, why give them another challange to their questionable judgement and reasoning?

There is no "right" answer to this question. As a society we are very hedonistic and caught up in materialistic persuits. Having drugs be illegal creates a black market, legalizing them but regulating/taxing the crap out of them creates a different black market, but making them entirely legal to any and all ages presents a moral issue concerning children.

I think we started on a slippery slope a long time ago restricting alcohol, and its created an environment where anything we do creates more problems. Only true eradication of the element will solve the issues, and marijuana will be around for medical uses for years to come.

How about we legalize alcohol for all ages, as well as marijuana, and raise the driver's license costs and its training/testing requirements, and bump the age to 21. I'm all for less regulation by the government, but not at the risk to the safety of my family.

Where did you get this information? When it was not illegal, cocaine could be picked up at the store and was used in coca cola. I really don't see your statement as an honest argument.

If you legalize it, they'll be a hell of a lot more users and more bad consequences. Driving under the influence, minors, children, idiots.... you name it.

anyhoo... kinky doesn't get my vote.
