I got my answer today. I guess they need more info??? They said they mailed me a letter on the 27th. I still have not got it.

My app online still shows processing application. If an application was denied, does the status change to such?

Do we start the countdown from the day we get the pin number or the day we mailed/or otherwise, got the info to the DPS? I think it all depends on who picks your envelope out of the stack cause by reading this some get their license fast, others a fair amount of time and others they seem to have just been forgotten. I wonder how many people they have processing these applications? Maybe if they are having a bad day they look at the picture and say, " I don't like the looks of this one", and put it back on the bottom of the stack. I am watching my mailbox and run when I see the mail carrier coming. Sigh

Denied. It seems they quoted the law incorrectly. Any good lawyers on this forum?

As per their website, the 2009 law no longer counts set aside cases as convictions. I'm appealing in writing today, quoting the new law.

I just got done writing the letter. I read over H.B 2730 and §411.172 until my face turned blue.

I am 100% sure I am eligible.

I am appealing the denial and will keep you guys updated. Thanks for all your help and support.

On the bright side, I picked up a new Chrome Magnum Research DE .50 today.

Congratulations. I would think three weeks would be about right from some of what DPS has done in the past.

I am glad to hear things worked out for you, even if they are still a little slow about it.

I guess I wait just wait.

The online system still shows processing, but it was showing that even when it was denied the first time.

Thanks everyone for their kind words.

Hi everyone,
New member here from West Texas but currently working in Arizona for a defense contractor. Because I spend so much time away from home and traveling I finally deceided to get my CHL here in Arizona. They are reciporary with Texas so I figured I would hold me over untill I'm home long enough to take a class there. Anyway I thought I would let you know that here in Arizona you can go to the local DPS and get a state issued ID card for $12. No proof of residency is needed, just two forms of photo ID. Afte that you can take a CHL class and have your CHL in about a week. I took my class on Feb 6th and mailed off my paperwork the same evening. I received my CHL in the mail on Feb 12th. Now I know that Arizona is not as big as Texas but if they can process the permit on less then a week why does it take Texas 2 to 3 months to do the same. My only guess is that not alot of people here get a CHL because this state is an open carry state and people here take it seriously. I've been here 5 months now and still cant get over seeing little old ladies with 6shooters on their hips shopping in Wal-Mart.

Welcome to the forum tmd11111. :tiphat:

Next time you are at Wal-Mart, please get some photos. Would love to see some pics posted of folks open carrying in the stores in Arizona. We hear about it, but never see it. I came from an open carry state, and NEVER saw it in town anywhere, including when I go back to visit. :???:

And, hurry back to Texas. :thumbs2:

here guys and gals, new member here, been lurking a while..
My wife and I both took the class on Saturday 2-13-10, and mailed out our complete packets out today via certified mail, return receipt, with postal money orders for the application fees.

Now the waiting game begins !!

2-13-10 Class Taken, qualified
2-16-10 Packet Mailed
If you find your self in a fair fight, your tactics obviously suck.
2/13/10 - Class Taken

3-20-10 Wife's Approved-License Active
3-25-10 Wife- Plastic
3-30-10 mine legal review
4-9-10 mine approved
4-16-10 my plastic arrived !! woo hoo !!
