Re: DPS Processing Times
Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get a physical license in the mail from where the Online Status shows "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"? Could it be that I have a CHL in less than a month after submitting the application?
Here are my stats"
11/1 - License Application Online
11/7 - Received Application Package
11/7 - Attended CHL Training
11/9 - Submitted Application
11/10 - DPS Received Application
12/4 - Online Status Shows "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

If you would have asked that question a few months ago , I would have said "impossible".
However , the way things have been lately I would say "yes".
Congratulations ! You should receive your license by the end of next week.

Re: DPS Processing Times
On Friday, I'll be moving into the 86-105 days category. The reason I'm saying that is because my status still says "Processing", and given the average delivery speed of 7 days, the earliest I'll see my license is NEXT Monday, even if I get approved tomorrow.
The only thing the DPS is able to tell me is that they're waiting on a background check, but beyond that, they can't/won't give me specifics. I took the liberty of going down to the San Antonio PD and having them run a background check for me, and even sent the notarized paperwork with my application, so I know it's not the local PD that's holding up the process.
And before any of you mention the photo rejection line in my sig, the photo is only for putting on the plastic, and is NOT required for the background check itself, so any suggestions of resetting my start time are bogus, and won't be entertained as serious comments.

Re: DPS Processing Times
Sorry for all the roadblocks you seem to be having throughout your process, they would get under my skin as well. After reading what they did for another applicant by using his DL photo that was on file in order to speed up his process, after they rejected the photo that was provided with the application. It seems to me, if they could do this in one instance, they should be able to do it in every one. Or maybe this is a change that they have recently adopted in an effort to speed up the process?? Dunno, just my 2 cents.jsimmons wrote:And before any of you mention the photo rejection line in my sig, the photo is only for putting on the plastic, and is NOT required for the background check itself, so any suggestions of resetting my start time are bogus, and won't be entertained as serious comments.
Hang in there jsimmons, you have much invested in this already. Hopefully, it shouldn't be much longer.

I guess the 100+ club is no longer in vogue.

Re: DPS Processing Times
Its hard to say . It could take as much as two weeks , but you'll probably get it sooner.vinnier6 wrote:have been checking the status of my app every day now, still says processing, so i decided to give them a call so see if they had additional informaiton...the gal said my background check is complete and my license is at the printer!!! anyone know how much longer til i have plastic in hand? my app has been in processing for around 3 weeks counting the thanksgiving break....
Usually when your license comes back from the printers and is inspected and signed off , then your on-line status will
change to "complete" which means its in the mail and on its way to you.
Hope this helps.

Hi johnny welcome to the forum! Yes by the very nature of background checks, they become out of order...mmmm, IN short order.
Some take longer to process than others.
