Renassance Festival

#1

Post by psijac »

I plan on going tomorrow. Am I allowed to carry there? I suppose its out of character for a medieval peasant to pack heat, So I guess I am commended to the 9th circle of nerd hell for being "OOC", but are there any 30.06 posted?

Page 3 of the FAQ says no concealed weapons, although that doesn't necessarily mean it will be properly posted.

Last year the festival was posted something to the effect that "the king prohibits weapons" so it was not posted properly. I went and carried in my costume

Say hi to the "Free Credit Report -dot- com" guy for me. He'll be playing his guitar because his credit was ruined and playing at the Renaissance Faire was the only job he could get. "rlol"

Remember not to carry...among other things from TPC 46.01 :nono:

...
...
(D) tomahawk.
...
...
(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
...
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;
...
(E) sword; or
(F) spear
...

Darn, I'll miss my poiniard and my dirk. Can I fire up my 8kw genny in the camping area?

If you're talking about Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, it is, indeed, posted 30.06.

I believe the OP is referring to the one in Plantersville. I went last weekend, didn't notice any signs but I wasn't looking for them as I'm still am waiting for some news on my application.

It was too chilly for them. Imagine how cold metal feels against the skin...

Wait for a warmer weekend, they're there, trust me :)

Last time I went, back in '91, it was so cold that the belly dancers were wearing wraps and the magicians couldn't do many of their tricks because they were wearing gloves.

they will be out, as well as a few topless ones in general, inside a shop or 2. in am glad there are no 30.06 signs, i'll be free to carry and not worry about leaving it out in the parking lot.

Just got back from the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville. There is not an 'official' 30.06 sign, but there is a very clear sign at the entrance to the effect of "the King prohibits any concealed weapons" or something similar. It then goes on to talk about various knives. It doesn't mention firearms specifically.
I will add, as a fifth circumstance in the situation of the House of Representatives, restraining them from oppressive measures, that they can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as on the great mass of the society. - J Madison, Federalist #57

I hope they don't post an official sign because of people asking and god forbid someone correcting them that there sign isn't legal.
