Heads up!!!! If you are applying as a vet, and claiming the exemtion of the process fee, you need to include a copy of your LES or Orders, this will prevent a delay in the processing of your application. The instructor did not mention this in the class, I submitted a copy of my ID card, but that was not good enough

I submitted a DD-214 and marked "Veteran" in the appropriate places.Bulldog44 wrote:Heads up!!!! Re: Veteran Status for CHL
Having he fee reduced by 50% for old crusties like myself is ok, but I am still trying to figure out why a freshly honorably discharged veteran (within the 365 day window) is getting the 100% deal...
I had thought 2 years ago when this was passed that it was a 50% deal across the board...For everone who produces a DD214...
Oh well...$35 for me on the next one is still pretty darn good...I could actually pay more to the instructor just to compensate...Just because I am a nice guy...

Re: Veteran Status for CHL
I tried to renew online but didn't know my PIN. I guessed at the PIN and it looked like I may have guessed right but I got the cryptic message: "may not be eligible for this service." I called DPS and they had already sent out my letter (I think the letter contains the PIN) - which I may not receive for a week or more. I went ahead and had them send me a packet. The lady I talked to didn't say there was an advantage to applying online.
I plan to take the class in the next couple of weeks.
I've been reading about digital prints on the forum. Is digital an option or required? If the prints are scanned what are you given to send to the state?
