Last time I was at GVM, I went in/out through Burlington Coat Factory, which is not posted. Same holds true if you go in through Gameworks, it's not posted either. It seems only the entrances to the mall itself are posted.

That being said it's still not a place I patron by choice. I've never seen any signs outside any of the parking lots.

How to handle these malls that post...

Post by Bif »

You organize a letter writing campaign. Letters need to be very even tempered, polite, but firm in stating the writer will not under any circumstances visit or allow family to visit that mall until those signs come down or are replaced with the "unliscensed possession..." sign.

These letters need to go to the corporate headquarters, not the mall office.

Some malls in other parts of the country changed their policy after recieving as few as 30 letters. The mall mentioned in this thread may need to recieve 500 - 1000 (and they need to be written not emailed).

A large enough number of letters recieved will get someone's attention and they may run it by their legal staff (who will likely tell them to take the signs down as some chains have).

Dollars lost vote.

I organized a small campaign against Hastings in San Angelo, letters were mailed to the corporate office. No more that 12-20 letters were written and the signs came down...Fast.

I know this is an older thread but just thought I'd post an observation. Took the kiddo to see Spider-Man 3 today. We went to the AMC outside Grapevine Mills Mall. I had not been to this mall in a while. While waiting to go into the AMC theatre....which is outside of the mall.....I noticed the mall is still posted with 30.06 signage.

I didnt plan on going into the mall anyway but I think that sign looks tacky. Yep, would feel real safe shopping in there. :/

What is funny is the AMC Theatre just outside the mall's west entrance has this posted:

Strolled right into the theatre. :)

I think it strange as several of the anchor stores have no signage at there entrances but the main mall entrances do. I mean what if someone (CHL holder) isn’t aware of the Grapevine Mills posting and goes into one of the anchor store entrances and say was discovered by some strange chance to be carrying while in the mall itself?

Sorry for the pic quality…cell phone

There may be hope yet. I have had to do some work @ GVM and was talking to the chief engineer for the mall. He said it looks like the Millsmay be selling to Simons.
Now I do a lot of work at a lot of malls around this area, and have never seen a Simons owned mall posted.

The message is clear from GVM mall. They don't want law abiding citizens in their stores.

Take your business elsewhere whenever possible unless they see the error of their ways.

PD ON PREMISIS

#41

Post by motleystew »

To the earlier post that stated that the Grapevine PD and the mall security are pretty chummy, I walked into the enclosure that allows access to the rear of the food-court restaurants for delivery etc.. and I saw a Grapevine Police station office.*** So there is a police station ON PREMISES of the mall itself..***

No Grapevine mall near me, but IF mall security is routinely taking these actions, REGARDLESS of how "chummy" mall security is with local LEOs, the mall would seem to be skating on very thin ice.

IANAL, but with proper advance planning, and provision for evidence gathering (video, 911 calls reporting unlawful detention, mall's lack of PC, etc.) it would seem there's an opportunity for money to be made . . .

That there is and it is staffed durring mall Hours...

I work for the FD that covers the Mills and have walked it way to manny times... There are multiple doors that give you access into the mall that are not marked. As I recall the main entry areas are marked though..

Parking Lot

#44

Post by tfrazier »

30-06 allows them to ban us from the premises, inside the doors. Does NOT apply to parking lots. Still, I won't be shopping there unless the signs come down.

To reiterate a previous post, letters need to be polite and sent with the intent to educate. Try not to come across as outraged or patronizing. Let them know the benefits of having law abiding trained citizens in their business. They don't care about how much business they'll lose because they know how low the percentage is for CHLs in comaparison to the general population.

Looked at some of the anchor stores this am. Like I mentioned in my last thread, most of the anchor stores do not have marked 30.06 signs that lead into their stores from the parking lot. Now I am not sure if there are any signs that you see leaving the anchor stores into the mall itself.
