Just make damn sure it clears when they cash it. If I remember correctly from Linda's class, they will REVOKE your permit if the check bounces. Not suspend until you pay the fee, take it away completely.

That is correct. It's GC § 411.186(a)(6).
Bouncing a check is also a class B misdemeanor if the amount is between $50 and $500 (PC § 31.04 and .06). If DPS wants to prosecute, they will almost certainly get a conviction. That makes you ineligible for five years.
