I like to think, that had I been close enough, that I'd have gone into attack mode even unarmed. Bean him with a couple of books, kick him in the ..knee.., and apply various other thoughtful gestures of affection. Wonder what he would have thought of the idea then.

Course, very likely I wouldn't have been following proper protocol.

School Intruder Protocol

1. Run in circles, scream and shout.
2. If ineffective, scream and shout, then run in circles.

Agreed. Had I been in close proximity to this moron and kids were in the immediate vicinity, he would have taken the nearest large blunt object available to the head at my first opportunity. I don't know any good teacher that would stand by and watch kids get shot, given the opportunity to intervene.

What a bunch of morons! I can't even say on this forum what I want to about the ---- who pulled this stunt. "Disciplined?" The blithering idiot administrators responsible for this, this -- I can't even say it here -- should be fired and have criminal charges brought against them.

If I'd been there, the stupid "actor" who went along with this insanity would probably be dead. There's plenty of other things laying around in a school besides guns that can be used as lethal weapons.

A group of elementary teachers gathered for a workshop at Phillipsburg Early Childhood Learning Center got a shock Friday when a gunman burst into the facility library.

The man, yelling obscenities, squeezed off several shots, prompting those present to run for cover and pray for their lives.

[snip]

Town police Chief Edward Mirenda also praised teachers' performance, saying, "Teachers did a great job and reacted as they were trained."
Well, I'm sure the parents in that town are going to be very pleased with the school's emergency policy of "Run and pray for your life." The outcome is likely to be so much better than the "Fire at the center of mass until the threat stops" policy. {/sarcasm]

So they were pleased with the teacher's "response" which I assume was to die in an orderly and non-panicked fashion. Amazing that they think of this as a response at all.

Somebody should lose their job over that bit of stupidity. Not only could the actor have been killed in self-defense, it conditions people to question whether a deadly situation is real or not.

I believe no matter how the faculty responded, the administrators would have still given plenty and plenty of praise to avoid being neck high in lawsuits. geez.

I just recovered from heart surgery. I don't think it would be a very good idea to have this kind of "drill" without knowing the medical condition of every person in that room in advance. I think they showed absolutely no commen sence. If someone had used deadly force as a responce and ended the actors life, who would be at fault? :mad5

Wouldn't this event be considered a crime since a weapon was exhibited with the intent of creating alarm? So that covers the actor, since the board was involved, doesn't that make them guilty of conspiracy?

I bet they're getting an overwhelming number of applicants right now.

It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

This is bad and may have had various outcomes - including serious physical and/or emotional injuries to the audience members or to the actor(s). If I am in such an audience, my normal response may be to take out the threat by any means. I don't think any trainer or exercise observer would normally be able to respond in time to stop me. The possible negative consequences of this training need to be discussed, lessons learned documented, and some people held accountable.

 WOW! That is truly disgusting! I think Superintendent George Chando should loose his credentials and never work again in education. What a moron! And, what kind of "keystone cops" would actually assist a district in pulling such a stunt? Totally irresponsible!

And they did this to...test the reaction of the staff? Well did the staff act with shear terror and fear? What exactly was the outcome they were expecting?
