Utah CFP - Houston?

#1

Post by roff »

My Texas CHL had a problem with the application and I dont really want to wait an additional 120-150 days for it to arrive.

So where can I find a place to take the Utah CFP class in houston?

Here is a list of the Utah instructors in pdf. Scroll down to Texas.

One name on that list might stick out a little bit.

It's the right file. It's just a .pdf of all Utah instructors outside Utah.

I'm not sure where all of them are located, but I believe Charles is on the south side of Houston.

Charles has been asking if there is enough interest in the Houston area to warrent a class. If we all bug him enough I am sure he would put one on the schedule. You can just PM him since he a moderator of this forum.

There's no range work for Utah, so it's a bit easier to schedule. Anyone interested in a Utah class in the Houston area, please post on this thread.

Thanks,
Chas.

Can you get a Utah license faster than you can get a Texas one? I'm supposing so or there wouldn't be so must interest.

That is not the only reason to get a Utah CFP. A Utah permit will also add Washington, Nevada, and Ohio to the states where you are leagally allowed to carry. Also the cost is much less $65 Initial, $10 Renewal.

Ok, now you knew this was coming right?

Why bother getting a Texas CHL then? I'm already committed($$$) so...not that it matters.

There are benefits to each license. Only you can decide if it makes more sense for you to get a TX CHL or a UT CFP or both or neither.

You can legally carry in TX with a Utah CFP. But, the Texas license gets you alot more states mainly because some states don't honor non-resident licenses.
Here is a great website to see what getting the different states CHL will get you in recriprocity. http://www.carryconcealed.net/legal/reciprocity.php

Personally I would like to get the Utah CFP because I would like to add Ohio to my license (when it comes :banghead: )

I would be interested in a Houston class. I am also facing a long wait after resubmitting finger prints.

I'll try to schedule a class in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Let me check on the PSC classroom.
