The CHL pertains only to the definition "handgun" and the definition in the Texas penal code Sec. 46.01. is (5) "Handgun" means any firearm that is designed, made, or adapted to be fired with one hand. If you can fire a hand held cannon - I guess that is 'legal'. 
IANAL but I would think that concealing a rifle or shotgun down your pants or in a trenchcoat would probably get someone a concealed weapons charge?

There is no statute on the books related to concealing a long gun.

So what if the cops show up? If you are on your own property, there's not a whole lot they can do.
