So is open carrying your S&W 29 in your front yard. Do it here in Houston (especially in the Montrose), though, and tell me how long it takes for the cops to show up.

The CHL pertains only to the definition "handgun" and the definition in the Texas penal code Sec. 46.01. is (5) "Handgun" means any firearm that is designed, made, or adapted to be fired with one hand. If you can fire a hand held cannon - I guess that is 'legal'.
IANAL but I would think that concealing a rifle or shotgun down your pants or in a trenchcoat would probably get someone a concealed weapons charge?

"designed, made, or adapted" I can fire my riot guns with one hand. That does not make them handguns as they were neither designed, made, or adapted to be fired with one hand.couzin wrote:The CHL pertains only to the definition "handgun" and the definition in the Texas penal code Sec. 46.01. is (5) "Handgun" means any firearm that is designed, made, or adapted to be fired with one hand. There is no statute on the books related to concealing a long gun.

Re: Just Curious
So what if the cops show up? If you are on your own property, there's not a whole lot they can do. They might not like it, but that doesn't make it illegal.bdickens wrote:KBCraig wrote:And yet it's perfectly legal.bdickens wrote:Packing one of those under your black trench coat is a sure way to attract unwarranted attention.
