Grapevine Mills Mall

#1

Post by rudy64 »

While visiting the Grapevine Mills Mall in the Metroplex, I noticed that it has large green signs that state that no handguns are allowed in the mall. Since these are not 30.06 signs, are they valid? Or does it not matter since the mall might be private property.

I wonder when they changed their signs?

Which entrance did you go through, the front entrance has had a very compliant sign for years.

I usually enter the entrance with the football in front. Jim, does this mean that the mall is a legitimate no carry mall?

Only if you received legal notification - which YOU did not.

Well I agree with this assessment, will the police or a DA see it that way? It's just that I have never had a run in with the law and I don't want to either.

Grapevine Mills and Katy Mills malls have been discussed many times. Please use the search function.

The issue has always been that the otherwise compliant signs are posted on the side walls inside the mall entrances.

Thus they are not obvious. But I don't recall anyone stating that the signs were not compliant in content and size.

Mills Corp recently sold these properties. If they have changed out compliant 30.06 signs for non-compliant ones, it could reflect a change in corporate policy. But that's just wishful thinking.

Grapevine Mills posts 30.06 signs that reference the orginal bill in 1995 when the CHL laws were enacted. However, their signs have not been updated to the current 30.06 wording. Technically, they are non-compliant signs. If you call Grapevine Police department they will tell you that Grapevine Mills is off limits for CHL. They do not want CHL holders carrying on their property. They have been lazy about updating their signs. So the choice is yours. If you get caught, I doubt that the arresting officer is going to buy your non-compliance story. He'll let the lawyers and judges figure it out.

I know what you're saying, but 30.06 didn't exist in the 1995 version. Apparently you are correct about the old signs. Living in Houston, I could only judge by Katy Mills, which has compliant 30.06 signs, but out of clear view.

Well, my gun doesn't look like that, so there. Obviously they don't want white cartoonish looking revolvers like the one from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."

That's pretty much the same sign I recall from several years ago, but it wasn't at all entrances, just entrance 2, which most people think of as the main entrance, is that still the case?
