I'd bet the scraping "sproing" of a cheap mag self-disassembling is just as bad.stevie_d_64 wrote:"CLICK"...

And for the record, I carry with a round in each of the chambers.

Wow... ok. 50 brownie points for the first person to find a youtube video of this move!iratollah wrote:Unless you're willing to train in Israeli style carry, of course you keep one in the pipe.
A friend, who is also a Krav Maga instructor, carries regularly but for various reasons, does not keep one in the chamber. But he's practiced enough that he can chamber one in a fraction of a second, says he can even rack the slide on an opponents face if he's grappling.
There is a video, I've seen it, and I did look for it last night. But it's not a Krav Maga vid, or a "IDF defense training". The guy that is showing the "move" has several vids of himself and another guy that appears to be a student. Looks like they are in a caliche pit in Israel. Bunch of tacticool stuff. I thought I had it marked, but can't find it.LedJedi wrote:Wow... ok. 50 brownie points for the first person to find a youtube video of this move!iratollah wrote:Unless you're willing to train in Israeli style carry, of course you keep one in the pipe.

I'm WAY too tired to go on a hunt and will probably forget about it in the morning :)

I don't particularly like that video. His attitude, demeanor and language is offensive to me....SCone wrote:Here's one...

Not a full draw from a holster, but it gives you the idea of how quick it can be.
The one I saw was a full draw, tactical presentation at eye level. Quite a bit different from that fellow. The slide racking takes place at eye level as the gun is "pressed into" position.SCone wrote:Here's one...

I am glad that you learned something from video. I did also, but that doesn't mean that I did not find it offensive.Liberty wrote:Then again almost all of my combat training was from drill sargeants. Most have them had rougher language and worse attitudes.
He didn't even justify any reasoning for not having one in the pipe. He only demonstrated that he could rack the slide quickly. He made his point.NcongruNt wrote:I also noticed that he did not approach the issue of the possibility of need to draw one-handed.
