Who should be the next Texas Governor
I'm curious to everyone's feelings on who should be the next Texas Governor. I have a poll up on my blogspot and appreciate all the members on this forum voting in the poll.

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
Why was Kay Bailey Hutchison not included in your poll?
This could be one of the toughest choices, ever.
Hutchison has been a conservative stalwart for years.
Patterson gave us CHL and continues to support our rights.
Perry has done much to further the CHL cause.
If forced to make a choice between these three, it would probably be Jerry Patterson.

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
I like my senator Kay Hutchinson, if she were to run I must admit I would choose her over Perry, we need a change, that doesn't mean he hasn't done good things, just in Texas we shouldn't have a governer that long
Now if Hutchinson were to run for pres in 2012 or 2016, that would be interesting and I would love it!

I am for Kay also. Tricky Ricky cut his own trough to me for supporting TTC and has no stands on illegals.

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
During the Texas Republican convention recently, I saw the program that had this huge one-pager ad for Jerry Patterson, that really didn't say anything specific...Didn't say what he was currently doing or even running for in the future...Just him standing next to a vintage plane, in a multi-colored hue (reminicent of the Kinky Freidman yard signs)...I kinda like that motif...
I think this was a test bubble to see who was paying attention during the convention...And I do believe it got a lot of attention...
Jerry, without a doubt would make a very credible and successful run for govenor of this state...And he would get my support and endorsement without hesitation...And its not just about the CHL law he was a huge part in getting passed in this state either...
He would be a great uniter in the party, and invigorate the voting base, especially after what is bound to happen this next November...

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
Methinks Texas and the USA would better be served if Kay Bailey ran as Vice President with McCain.
Texas is in pretty fair shape. The rest of the country needs all the help it can get.....and Obama ain't it.
Patterson can be Governor if that's what y'all think.

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
But I'm not smiling. Remember Hutchison's TV appearance with Hillary Clinton and Diane Feinstein (I think it was Diane) where she announced that she would not oppose any legislation that was introduced by a woman Senator, regardless of their party affiliation? Now she's been very good on our issue lately, but I'm still stunned by such a statement. The Republican Party wasn't too impressed either.Snake Doctor wrote:Kay Bailey Hutchison will be the GOP candidate. You'll have to take my word on this one.
I don't think Jerry Patterson will run for Governor, but I could be wrong. He ran for Lt. Governor and lost. I was shocked and saddened that we didn't turn out in huge numbers for Senator Patterson. Jerry Patterson is the only person who could take my vote away from Rick Perry, the strongest pro-gun Governor we've ever had.

Re: Who should be the next Texas Governor
Hello, I was very saddened to see Rick Perry endorse that New Yorker (Giulliani) from then on I knew that the Governor spent to much time at the punch bowl. He's got some good ideas but when he went and endorsed Giulliani I almost threw up and vowed to vote for Kay Bailey. Texas is doing great and still much more to do with the Amnesty of illegal aliens.

I'll vote for Jerry. He's my kinda guy.
I like Kay Bailey a lot, but she's been less than solid on key issues like immigration. I 2nd the VP suggestion.
I won't vote for Perry, period

He's a spammer. No thanks.Rough_Ashlar wrote:how about david dewhearst?
(If anyone is wondering, I have never contacted him or his office in any way, nor signed up for his "newsletter", yet I regularly get email from him, signed as Lt. Gov., which amounts to little more than a partisan campaign letter.)

Nov 2010, it is a four year term with the elections in the even years that there is no presidential election.
