Pennsylvania License
Anybody read the latest TSRA article on obtaining a Pennsylvania concealed carry license. Looks like I'll be getting one to cover my carrying if Texas still has a serious lag time in issuing CHLs when it comes time to renew my license.

Subject: Need a CHL??
my stuff will be in the mail tomorrow.

thought I'd pass along some of his wisdom.
basically, if you're concerned about your CHL expiring while you're waiting for the renewal process, many have advocated getting a second license for the in between time. The Utah license is a great idea, and Mr Dark bought up another idea, for those of us who already have our Tx CHL.
Pennsylvania!
you can send a copy of your DL, your CHL, and a check for $26 to PENNSYLVANIA!!! and get one of their licenses in about a month!!!!!!!!!

FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
Re: Pennsylvania License
What I find really interesting here is that if you live in a state that does not have a CHL program, then you can get a Pennsylvania (and New Hampshire and perhaps other states as well) CHL with no paperwork. No class, no fingerprints, no intrusive federal background check, etc.
For example, Vermont residents can get a NH CHL without any of the intrusions mentioned above. $20 and that's it.
I never thought I would ever find a disadvantage to live in Texas.

Pennsylvania costs a little more than New Hampshire but it's good in Texas.
In Vermont, they recognize the constitution and people can carry free. No paperwork, no class, no fingerprints, no intrusive federal background check, etc. Open carry is allowed in Vermont and we don't have that in Texas even with a $140 license.drw wrote:What I find really interesting here is that if you live in a state that does not have a CHL program, then you can get a Pennsylvania (and New Hampshire and perhaps other states as well) CHL with no paperwork. Re: Pennsylvania License
According to the paper work that I printed from Snyder County, Pennsylvania, you must posses an out of state license to acquire a Pennsylvania LTC. Quoting from the document, "If you live of of state and don not possess an out of state license to carry firearms, you do not qualify for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms." Their paper work also requires two references which they contact and states that they will not proceed with the background check until both reference letters have been returned to Pennsylvania authorities. What I find really interesting here is that if you live in a state that does not have a CHL program, then you can get a Pennsylvania (and New Hampshire and perhaps other states as well) CHL with no paperwork. Someone mentioned New Hampshire licenses. What do they cost and does Texas have a reciprocal agreement with N.H.?
Thanks,
Joel

Re: Pennsylvania License
New Hampshire is cheap and easy but you need a RESIDENT CHL to obtain their non-resident permit.
Application for Non-Resident Pistol/Revolver License
http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp ... plupr.html Web page
http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp ... ssp260.pdf The form
$20. Must put down a "reason" but the instructions say very clearly that "PROTECTION or ALL LAWFUL PURPOSES" will suffice so be sure to write one of these on the application. (Ok, if you don't do that you suitability for the license is in doubt )
It used to get Texas residents quite a few states (I believe I needed it for AL and SC for a while).
Now it is only one or two extra, your mileage may vary as to usefulness but I will likely renew just as a political statement. (Higher numbers for NH.)
Quick, easy, cheap.
No prints, no picture, no notary, no witnesses, do it all from the comfort of your home.
But it does require a TX CHL for TX residents.

I put "Self Defense" on mine, and they printed that on the License. don't think it matters, I think they just print it on your license.HerbM wrote:New Hampshire is cheap and easy but you need a RESIDENT CHL to obtain their non-resident permit.
