FORT WORTH -- A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot and a 14-year-old acquaintance was stabbed several times Wednesday evening inside a house in the 800 block of Buffalo Springs Drive in far southeast Fort Worth, police and relatives reported.

Police said the 13-year-old, identified by a sister as Danny Allen, stabbed the older boy, identified by relatives as Blake Graves.

Graves then grabbed his father's handgun and shot Allen several times, according to police and relatives.

As of this morning looks like there's more to the story.

http://www.star-telegram.com/metro_news ... 72195.html

Allen had apparently gone to the house to hang out, said Lt. Paul Henderson, a police spokesman. At some point an argument started, and it escalated until Allen stabbed Graves, Henderson said. Then Graves grabbed a handgun and shot Allen, Henderson said.

Britton said Graves has told relatives that there was no argument. Allen went to Graves' house after a bad day at school, Britton said, and Graves let him in but later asked him to leave because he was not allowed to have company. As Graves walked Allen to the door, Allen began stabbing him, she said.

Graves said that he got his father's gun but that Allen wrestled it away, Britton said. Graves then got a second gun and began firing randomly in self-defense, striking Allen, she said. "If someone stabbed you 26 times and didn't stop after you grabbed a gun, wouldn't you think that if you didn't do something, your life would be ended?" Britton said. "One stab wound missed his jugular by millimeters. He is very lucky to be alive today. The only thing that saved his life is that he is a hefty young man."

Graves is 6 feet tall and weighs more than 300 pounds, Britton has said.

My gosh! This kid is 14 years old!!

The whole thing is sad, and I feel for both families. But the Graves boy did what he had to do. It's just too bad that his friend lost his mind and Graves had to shoot him. What a terrible thing.

some things to note about this story:

- how does a 14 year old kid end up being 300 lb?!?!? that's sad
- there was at least one, and maybe two, handguns unlocked and loaded with unsupervised kids at home. we normally suggest this is a no-no. in this particular case, there was a friend over who could have just as easily found a loaded gun and killed the other boy as opposed to the knife
- in this case, the "irresponsibly stored" loaded, unlocked gun(s) likely saved the kids' life.

odd story in any case.

The boy must have been tought well by father on self defense issues in any instance. He did what a mature adult would do but maybe waited too long for his own actions. It is a sad thing, no charges on the boy and can't imagin problems for father.

are you kidding? Have you never heard of a corn-fed boy?
yea, alot of kids are obese these days, but even over a decade ago when I was his age there was kids that big. football coaches loved them. one was 6'4" and 330lbs at 14!

I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop, if that is going to happen.

Here's an updated story: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 59263.html

Both kids seem to have been decent. At least the papers didn't dig up anything negative about them. The boy who was stabbed and did the shooting is said, by his grandfather, to practice shooting with his father.

Can I mention that the people involved probably know about Google?
