Can I carry a Bug legally in Texas?

#1

Post by NuBee »

Does Texas CCW law indicate anywhere that we can only carry on our body or person one handgun only. I may want to carry one extra as a bug but do not know if Texas has placed any limitations on this or not.

Thank you in advance!

You carry carry 10 if your body frame permits
But seriously, if you have a CHL, and did not qualify on a revolver, carry as many pistols and types as you wish. Many people here carry a BUG, and I plan to make that LCP a bug one day

I regularly carry a BUG (guardian .380 in a front pocket holster). I do not think there is any limitation on the number of pistols a CHL can carry as long as they are all concealed.

Texas law has no limit or restriction as to how many guns you can carry nor where they have to be on you. They just demand you a) have them concealed so a normal individual would not discover them, and b) If you have quailfied for just revolvers (NSA) you must carry revolvers (and as many wheelguns as you wish.)

In sucn as Oklahoma, you can't carry .50 cal (dang, no .50 GI for me!),and in Georgia there are certian places, ON YOU, that you can't carry guns. There are other weird restrictions depending on the state (and locality in some places) but in Texas we don't do much of that foolishness.

I knew a guy that carried 7 handguns on his body on a regular basis. I don't really know why he did it, but he always seemed a little off his rocker. :leaving

Thanks a million gents.

I now carry a G23 or a SW642 and thinking of maybe carrying both sometimes. I read on another gun forum that this guy was restricted by law to only one gun for CCW in his state. He never mentioned what state so of course I got to thinking about Texas and wanted to be sure.

Great news!!!! :clapping:

This always brings to mind the scene when the Reeves guy goes through the metal detector in the first Matrix movie and it sets it off.

When he opens his jacket he has to be carrying 100 lbs of weapons and in Texas, as long as none of them are fully automatic, he would be legal,

BUT, if he happens to be carrying a switchblade knife, he is in biiiiiiiiig trouble. :cryin :cryin :cryin :cryin :cryin :cryin

Yes that was a funny scene. :smilelol5:

I just want to make sure that I am 100% legal before I do anything. When highway driving and when I just have to go to or through some ares in town. I think a Bug would make sense.

For example one of the Family Dollar stores that was robbed recently and they took hostages for a short while is where my ex boss made me go and buy cheap plastic storage containers. I do not work near that side of town any longer but I used to go there often. I hated that neighborhood even while packing.

You just never know. :confused5

I have carried as many as five or six (I don't rightly recall), just to see if I could do it. It's doable (and I'm 5'6", 145 lbs!).

In Texas, it's also perfectly legal. Here in NM, unfortunately, it's not. :banghead: And per Agency policy, I can't currently carry a backup while on-duty, either. :banghead: :banghead: We're hoping that the "new" firearms policy in the works will change that, but I'm not terribly hopeful on that account.

In Georgia, if you have a CHL, you must carry a handgun in a holster or bag or some kind (purse, etc.). No pocket carry or "Mexican style."

In Texas, as one instructor put it, If you can conceal it, you can carry it.
