I have to wonder if the Katy "Mills" Mall has the same boleros busting policy???

I don't go to Katy very often to shop...Maybe someone here knows if they do the same thing Grapevine does...
I be the BASS PRO doesn't have one ;-)

I remember an incident a while ago where we all emailed the store over a CHL having to unload his firearm and the manager told us the employee was wrong and CHLs are welcome.

My mail from the Mills corporation indicated:

1) That ALL Mills malls are posted, for the safety of their customers.

2) That MOST malls in the DFW area are posted.

The second is patently untrue, and the first is highly unlikely.

The first time I visited Bass Pro, right after they opened, they had (non 30.06 compliant) "No Guns" signs up at all of the doors. I complained to the manager and was given the corporate address. I wrote a letter to Bass Pro corporate, and received a letter of apology and a promise that the signs were being taken down. Their excuse was that the signs came in a package of signs that they ordered so they just put them up.

I have since tried o locate anyone selling sign packages for big stores like that, and cannot find any that include signs that were not ordered.

I would love to see a logic diagram for this statement....

Why?! Why would you or anyone complain about this? If it is not the correct sign to legally ban a CHL holder from carrying on the premise, why would you point it out so they can correct it? This would eventually lead to them posting correctly under 30.06, banning you from legally entering that location with a firearm.

Let them post thier incorrect signs. Thatis just one more place I can be safe in. Both walking up to and leaving from as well, where the bad stuff usually happens....

Good news and bad news.

I drove out to Grapevine Mills. My wife's new camera did not store the pics.

Regarding the parking lots. There are no signs posted about firearms. I checked every entrance to mall property from a public street. I checked the parking lots, looking at the light poles and signs.

The doors themselves are not posted; however, to the side, on a wall perpendicular to the doors is a HUGE 30.06 compliant sign. It is a blue background with white letters.

You can take your handgun in your vehicle, but not within the mall.

Glad you checked that part of the issue out...I was a bit concerned that they were trying to push the envelope out a bit too far this time...

They have the same signage at Katy Mills mall. However, I can confirm (as stated previously on this board - I think) one can still enter through Outdoor World carrying concealed (no 30.06) and enter into the mall from there, without viewing a 30.06 sign.

I guess that means glasses for me. I went through the doors by the Movie house, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Burlington Coat factory and never seen the sign. You know you are old when you can go to sleep in a chair and need glasses. :frown5:

Because I was in the process of handing them a "NO GUNS = NO MONEY" card to let them know why they were losing my business, and that of anyone else who I could persuade not to shop there.

I see an incorrect sign as multiple indications.

First, that they have no idea what they are about, and uninformed people or store management are dangerous.

Second, that they think they are banning ALL guns and will likely try to have you arrested if they discover that you are carrying. And of course the police are not always likely to know the law and refuse to arrest you.

Third, see First and Second together and realize that if they don't really know what's up, then maybe their intention had nothing to do with being anti-CHL and somebody in corporate needs to know about it.

I have also used a similar tactic on a store in Plano, which changed its signs from improper 30.06 to "The unlicensed possession . . ." Appealing to common sense sometimes actually works.

Bass Pro's signs did come down the next week.

I guess what doesn't surprise me, but rather irritates me to no end, is that the signs are HUGE!!!

Like they are trying to say something else with the size of the sign...

There's a term I like to use when I sense this "attitude" in people and other entities...But this is a "G" and "PG" rated forum, and I'd like to keep it that way...

I'll stick to going to the malls in my area...And even though they have their "seedy" side, at least when I have to go there, its just not an issue...

I'm sure those "Mills" malls are nice places, but I'm not feeding their coffers...There are plenty of "other" people who will...

They are not ALL posted, but there is one at the main entrance off the highway.

FWIW, I had heard that Grapevine Mills was 30.06 posted at the parking lot entrances and mall entrances and had not ever planned to go there. However, Galvston is a long way to drive to take my daughter to the Rainforest Cafe...so we drove over one afternoon. We entered the parking area on the back side of the mall and there were no 30.06 signs at the parking lot entrance we used. When I found the entrance to the Rainforest Cafe, I sent the wife up to check for 30.06 signage and she came back and said there wasn't one. You can magine my surprise when we walked OUT of the mall and I saw a huge (8ft at least) 30.06 sign on the wall outside the door. Due to the angle of approach while walking up to the door this sign is not clearly visible when going IN the entrance without turning around. Guess I'll make the drive to Galveston next time...'cause I'm not going back!

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

If you will read my post above you will see that I drove out there the other day specifically to investigate this rumor.

Grapevine Mills is NOT posted at the parking lot.

Maybe it's not posted now, but when I was there in late Novemeber I saw the 30.06 sign at the main entrance to the parking area closest to the highway. We used another entrance that was not posted going into the lot, and I only saw the 30.06 sign as we were leaving (I was turned around looking for it as we left). This was after I had unknowingly gone into the mall right past the 30.06 sign that was placed on the wall in such a way that you would only see it if you turned around and walked backward into the mall.
