lead time for renewal

#1

Post by center mass »

Just got a letter from the state about renewing ,or beginning the process, by computer. I've renewed before by mail. I'm 6 months away from my chl exiration date. Anyone done this on the web? How much lead time should I allow for the DPS to do their thing? I don't want my license to expire. I have to allow time for the bureaucracy to function and find an instructor, and schedule a renewal class , etc. As a shift worker time seems to drift away without my knowing it. Thanks for any info on the new process and amy personal experience with it.

Instructor here. I get mixed feedback fro students on DPS' turn-around time on renewals. Law sez 45 days, but they've exceeded that with several I know of. Sounds like ya best start lookin' for a class. I'd suggest getting all the stuff in to 'em at least 60 days before birthday. Even then, send it certified/return receipt - and cross your fingers.

 sorry folks, I didn't read the list of previous posts closely enough. I saw the poll on license app times after I posted. Some took 120 days- guess I better get cracking. Did the computer part and charged my credit card tonight. Need to find an instructor next. Still would appreciate any insights on doing this over the computer though. Thanks.

Remarkable how the license office is getting the renewal letters out these days...

Do you think its due to all the calls and other communications they are getting due to our efforts???

I bet you a buffalo nickle it is...

I just hope TomCat is still doing CHL classes when it's time to renew in 4 years. From just the brief conversations with him at the CHL forum day and watching him shoot (WOW) I will make the drive down there for a class with him.
