I just got my SecureIt box in the mail today. While it is not the strongest gauge steel and can be pried open with effort, I am a little more comfortable with my gun in there than in the glove box (which doesn't lock).
An extra car battery with a cable attached around the box also helps.
Just kidding.

I drove over to Cabela's today only to find out that they had sold out of the Secure-it boxes Luckily after digging around an employee found one. My only real complaint is that the cable is so danged short! How on earth do you pull that thing up from under the seat while it is still attached?!?! I have to get out of the car to get to it.

Are you securing it under the front seat frame? I can pull it from under my truck seat, set it on my lap and store and retreive it.5111 wrote:I drove over to Cabela's today only to find out that they had sold out of the Secure-it boxes Luckily after digging around an employee found one. You could always just add another cable to the link.5111 wrote:I drove over to Cabela's today only to find out that they had sold out of the Secure-it boxes Luckily after digging around an employee found one. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and for the most part drive it open (no doors, bikini top only) and installed a Tuffy glove box to store the pistol in. The ONLY time the pistol is actually in the glove box is while I'm at work or visiting a place I can't be armed.

Typically, I've used the glove box the few times I've locked my gun in the car...dang 51% establishments and their small signs. I'm actually looking for something/someone/someplace that might be able to go a custom jobby in my Passat. The center console is wide and deep. If I could get something heavy with a lock, it would be great to also leave things like my phone, GPS, work ID, etc. in.
