Trip to San Antonio

Hesitant to take the thread off topic about "Armed robbery in San Antonio mall."

I am planning a trip for my wife to San Antonio and I want to stay on the River Walk. I know that San Antonio has some weird ordinances on knife laws.

My question is are there any gun laws the City Ordinance has. If staying on the on the River Walk in a hotel is something I should be concerned or worried about. I see that it is best to avoid the mall which is not a problem.

No city ordinances on guns as far as I know. I've never heard of anyone getting arrested or fined for the lock blade ordinance.

You may find more 30.06/30.07 signs along the river walk then you might otherwise expect, but it has been a few years since I was down there.
As far as knife laws go, they can no longer enforce any local restrictions or laws, since 9-1-15, due to a preemption bill passing.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering how many restaurants was 30.06 on the River Walk. Someone in our church is sending us down for a weeks vacation to celebrate my wife's birthday. I just don't want to end up down there unarmed or even worse jail.

I'm pretty sure that the State of Texas now has pre-emption on knife laws, so that municipalities cannot make their own, more stringent ordinances anymore. Please, IANAL, so if someone is a legal expert or has more info on this, feel free to correct me. Thank you.

That's just a list of the locations prohibited by the state. Carl was looking for San Antonio specific rules or restrictions that might be enforced, legal or not.

I carry in San Antonio regularly and have little to no issues. None of the places I tend to go have a 30.06 but I have encountered 30.07 signs occasionally. However, I haven't been too the River Walk in several years. I do not believe there are any "ordinances" that would interfer with an enjoyable vacation.

San antonios knife laws have been void since 2015 when the state passed a knife preemption law. If its legal in Tx its legal in SA.

The link I posted was a result of a sarch on the web and the closest I found. There may be very well more detailed information located somewhere else but I doubt there is a up to date and accurate source. The 30.06 app another fellow member may be the closest match to find places which are 51% or 30.06/ .07 posted.
On the link there were no explicit exception mentioned which leads to the logical conclusion there are no relevant exceptions to the current existing state laws which in turn should be questioned anyway.

Wife and I played tourist in San Antonio last November and walked around the riverwalk. The only 30.06/7 signs that stood out to me was at the Hyatt Regency with the waterfall that runs from the Alamo, through the hotel lobby, and into the river. We didn't make it to the Alamo, but I seem to remember some debate about property ownership and posting.

We had the $40 / person Sunday champagne brunch at the Omni Las Canarias (112 College St) right on the river. That was one of the top 3 dining experiences I've ever had. We literally talked about that meal for weeks afterwards. Get there early with a reservation. Don't stop at the prosciutto, fine cheese, and caviar near the entrance - the buffet gets better further in. Other suggestions may be offered; this suggestion is better.

I believe that LTC company just listed the state laws and weren't looking to address anything else. These are typical on many LTC companies websites.

There are no extraordinary San Antonio specific ordinances that will interfer with having a great time in San Antonio.
