Urban Brick Pizza Co,

#1

Post by JALLEN »

We had occasion to be at the newish Creekside Center north of New Braunfels this evening and stopped at Urban Brick Pizza, which to my astonishment is displaying a red 51% sign.

They sell beer and wine but I cannot imagine any way that those sales are anything like 51% of sales. Alcohol sales while we were there were about $10. Pizza and salads, etc were way more than that.

I tried the TABC site and there is no record of a license found.

What's the deal?

Many of the employees were sporting black t-shirts with big bold letters "Legalize Marinara."
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

So how did you find that? I went to the TABC site, filled in all the info, and nada!

Anyway, now what? Do I get in my Rambo look alike suit, with full regalia and go rip it down? I hope not. I'm a dead ringer for Wilford Brimley in a famine now, not Sly Stallone.

Offer to take the manager to lunch at the nearby Whataburger?

Complain to TABC?

If you don't type the name exactly it won't find it. There is an S on the end of Brick.

And yes, contact the TABC Field Office for New Braunfels and they will address it with the business

You can avoid problems with spelling by just search for a portion of the name. For example just typing "urban" in the trade name and "new braunfels" in the city, will bring it right up. Also, typing "pizza" will bring up all the places with pizza in their title that have a TABC licence, like Urban Bricks, Bosses, Peter Piper, etc. They're ALL blue signs, btw.

It sure didn't work that that when I tried it.

Better luck next time, I guess.

If you type the full name and misspell one word, it throws off the whole search. The trick is to input as little info as possible.

Slightly off topic but there's a business I've been trying to lookup and it doesn't have anything listed under gun sign. Anybody know why that would be?

The code listed in subordinates is GF,O.

According to the TABC web site,
WINERY FESTIVAL PERMIT (GF)
Permit authorizes holders of a Winery Festival Permit to sell wine at a civic or wine festival, farmer's market, celebration or similar event. May not offer wine for sale for more than 4 consecutive days at the same location. Permit may only be issued to the holder of a Winery Permit.

PRIVATE CARRIER'S PERMIT (O)
Permit authorizes holder who is also a holder of a brewer's distiller's and rectifier's, winery, wholesaler's, class B wholesaler's or wine bottler's to transport liquor from the place of purchase to their business and from their business to the purchaser in vehicles owned or leased in good faith by the holder. A Wine and beer retailer's permit (BG) which holds a Brewpub permit (BP) and will be selling to another retailer may apply for a private carrier's permit.
So perhaps those two types are not required to have a gun sign.

The TABC info can be found at: https://www.tabc.state.tx.us/licensing/ ... iption.asp

Just a note if you choose to try to have the 51% sign removed.

Step #1- Don't contact Brick's Pizza at all.

Step #2- No really, don't contact them.

Step #3- Fill out a complaint on TABC website. Don't say anything about "my darn 2A rights" etc. Simply state that you found their signage confusing and don't believe they are displaying the correct signs. A TABC agent will stop by and correct it.

I did exactly that last night, online, about 10:11 pm. (9:11 pm Forum time)

It looks to me like the TABC has the form of sign and the business owner is allowed to print and use it as (s)he likes.

I happened to be at Creekside again today, and drove passed UBPC. It looks like they had a visit from TABC. The red sign was gone. It looked like the usual ordinary warning about unlicensed carry that one sees in convenience stores, etc.

Nothing like striking a blow for liberty!
