I made the mistake of filling out the online app. It took them exactly three weeks to finally get the paperwork I needed to send in. I called after two weeks of not receiving it. I then call again, four days later and was told another would be sent out. I then get two in the mail three days later.
They received my app on Nov 2 at 0800. I heard nothing on it and web was not updated for 3 weeks. Finally it was updated to show I need to sign something and it was mailed to me. After two weeks I was still waiting for it. I waited another two days and called . I was told someone would return my call. I did not receive a call back. I emailed them and never received a reply.
Finally, I called again today and spoke with xxxx who said it was never mailed. She at least, was extremely helpful. She went out of her way to rectify things.
My point, other than to whine a bit is they seem very disorganized. Its been eight weeks now since I filled out the online app and five weeks since they received my app back. I personally think this is extremely poor service.
Thanks for listening,
Ron Ray
My not so good service with dps chl

If the private sector did our jobs as good as the bureaucrats we would not have said jobs. If our soldiers did their job as good as the the bureaucrats we would not have a country.

Update:
I received the picture folder back to sign on Dec 8th. It had been mailed on Dec 6th. So apparently someone held it and did not mail it for two weeks. This seems to be fairly common. The same thing happend with the paperwork after I applied online. It did not come and finally after I called, they mailed it out.
I give DPS a failing grade. It is pretty obvious to me that they are running a lacsidaisical shop.
I see many posts of people not getting something until they call then suddenly it shows up or is posted.
Unless, they do it on purpose to "hold things up"?
Just my 2 cents,
Ron Ray

Just so you know, you're not the only one playing the hurry up and wait game.
DPS received my packet on November 5, and two days ago I got a xerox of one of the pages of the yellow application form back for corrections. They wanted address history for 5 years.
Well, I've lived at my current address for my entire life, except for a 3 month period in 2001, when I spent a summer semester at UT Arlington. I'd listed my Arlington address, but I guess I didn't make it clear that I lived here both before and after.
Mailed that stuff back yesterday, and I suppose whenever they get it my 60 days resets. Still no word on whether or not they're taking my prints (they weren't nearly as clear as my classmates' were.)
I figure when my original 60 days is up I'll give them a call just for motivation, but I'm certainly not crossing my fingers.
