Paratransit website states no weapons or firearms

#1

Post by juno106 »

Out of an abundance of caution, before I reply back to an out-of-state (Texas recognizes his state's carry permit) friend who is considering visiting and using the service, I would appreciate feedback as to the enforcability of the verbage on their website, and possibly physical signage on the paratransit buses.

No weapons or firearms on vehicles.

I believe I know the answer, but it is not me who might take a ride.

If i don't see a 30.06 posted on the vehicle or have not been advised of such verbally, I would not hesitate to carry past a non-30.06 notice posted on the internet.

Just my opinion. YMMV

I didn't see any 30.06 or 30.07 language on that page, so I saw nothing that applies to me as a CHL holder.

Adding to that, it seems to be a public transportation service (read: run by the local government), so I think even if they did post it, it would be invalid.

The "Contact Us" page has a customer service number. Did you call them and ask for some information on that entry?
They may have just forgotten to remove it because no one who was interested asked about it.

I just came across the following:
The Brazos Transit District (BTD) is a political subdivision of Texas that Texas Transportation Code Chapter 458 authorized to establish in 1974, and therefore receives state funds for transit services. Now, BTD serves as a rural transit district (RTD) for 21 counties in central and eastern Texas, including

You got it, they are a political subdivision of the State, and cannot legally post 30.06/07. Carry away.

Good idea. I like getting things in writing, as opposed to verbally over the phone, so I'll send an e-mail, and see if they respond.
