Re: BANK CHL declined
I have just recently received my LTC and went to the credit union a few days ago. I expected to see .06-.07 signs so I looked for them. I did not see them anywhere but I was still unsure so I disarmed and went in to take care of my business. I figured it was better to be sure before I made a boo boo.
Would you carry there or not?

If you are looking for it and don't see it then it's probably not there or a VERY invalid posting.Bayoutalker wrote:I have just recently received my LTC and went to the credit union a few days ago. How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Re: BANK CHL declined
Barring a reason not to carry, I'd let a couple of safer choices dictate my behavior.
It's safer to leave the gun dormant in its holster than to take it out. You should always have your gun in a holster that protects the trigger, and in the event of mayhem, I'd feel safer with a firearm than without.
Other than that, a bank not posted is legal turf for handguns and it's a natural place for security consciousness.
If I were going to open carry, I would take cognizance of the impact I would have on others.
Are you new to carrying? If so, get mentally adjusted to the idea. The new wears off pretty quick and despite suggestions of magic radar to detect a gun in the way you stand or walk, nobody will ever notice a reasonably concealed handgun.
I like camp or guide shirts. Not sure what they are officially called. They are loose-fitting and since they are intended to be worn untucked allow for a safe draw at a quicker pace, should in horrid extreme that be necessary, than a tucked shirt.
To me, that kind of clothing screams, "GUN!" In reality there are many shirts like that not providing cover for sidearms. Add a smile and a pleasant word for your fellow man, and concealment works.
So, short answer, where the law allows I carry. Your bank? Sure. My bank? Not a chance. I'm hunting up another as soon as I use up my overpriced checks. They posted 30.06/07. If it were 30.07 only I'd consider it dress code, shake my head at false security, and probably keep the account.
Be safe.

And ID law.Smokey613 wrote:I think all LE agencies need to send their officers to training concerning the LTC laws in general. Since returning to law enforcement I am amazed at the number of officers that do not fully know the laws concerning LTC.

Not everyone who carries a gun is an amateur.azwe wrote:Uhh no. Has nothing to do with printing. Unless it was exposed or printing really bad, there's no way anyone can tell for sure. At best this thread has been interesting reading of the responses and speculation.

Load of bull. I've been stopped by 6 DPS Officer ( Once looking for a drug trafficker- five that time + a drug dog, once by an Officer checking for DUI- he got POed when I passed all his sobriety test and blew a 0 on the breathalizer.) My point is I was asked to exit my truck and was observed by seasoned Officers each time. Each time I had a .40 H&K in a Crossbreed IWB holster and no one suspicioned a thing. For a potential drug dealer and potential drunk, I think they would have disarmed me if they had suspected I was carrying. The Wall wrote:azwe wrote:There's almost no such thing as carrying a concealed weapon. If they had your license and your LTC was given to them as required, then they should have asked and known if you were carrying.WTR wrote:Load of bull. Neither stop did they ask me for license or proof of insurance. The stop to check me for drugs they just told me to shut off the truck, throw the keys in the passenger seat, get out and walk to the back of my truck and sit on the tailgate..The DUI he just told me to exit the truck, and then he put me threw the paces. I had been told specifically by my CHL instructor (2009) we were no longer required to show an Officer our CHL license.
Re: BANK CHL declined
Your instructor is wrong. There is no longer a penalty for not doing so, but we still have to show the LTC if armed and asked for ID.
Re: BANK CHL declined
This is correct. You still have the requirement to display your licensed if asked for ID, but there is no penalty if you fail to do so.3dfxMM wrote:Your instructor is wrong. There is no longer a penalty for not doing so, but we still have to show the LTC if armed and asked for ID.

Re: BANK CHL declined
Since reading this forum, I have always given my CHL with a DL. Fortunately, It has only been used at DL, Insurance and DUI check points the last several years. Every Office I have shown it to has been very supportive of my CHL.Keith B wrote:This is correct. Re: BANK CHL declined
I think the Officer who pulled me over for the drug check was a rookie. However, the other four that showed up weren't........do they need a heads up from their computer that I may have a gun since it should be so obvious? The six one was just so sure he had a DUI and totally forgot protocol. It was kind of funny when the first Officer turned me loose and said "now remember it's 80 not 82."azwe wrote:Congrats on getting pulled over by rookie cops.WTR wrote:Load of bull. By the way, I thought even a rookie could tell!
