Confused?
So I'm heading into the gym this afternoon and there it is a brand new 30.06 sign smiling at me I head back to the truck and place Miss. Maybelle in the console then head back in. I ask for the manager but she's gone for the day and know one else knows about the sign. Is this a possible mistake they are going to let me open carry but not conceal? This has to be a mistake what do y'all think?

Re: Confused?
I follow this basic guideline
If they post 30.07, I will CC
If they post 30.06; I don't carry at all, as I feel they don't want guns at all
From a legal standpoint, OC past a 30.06 is fine
Just expect them to tell you to take it outside, or (speculating) they may call the police as they do may think 30.06 is enough to block all.

Re: Confused?
Soobmany cars are broken into outside the gym, i would never keep it in the car while i was there. Def time to find a new gym and let them know why.

If you paid for gym membership, get your money back!

Re: Confused?
I would think this to be a reasonable request since the conditions of membership have changed. They may not see it this way, but it makes sense to me.crazy2medic wrote:If you paid for gym membership, get your money back!

Re: Confused?
Check your contract. If it has no weapons in it, you are probably out of luck as the terms of the contract would not have changed, just that they are now just giving the properly required notice.C-dub wrote:I would think this to be a reasonable request since the conditions of membership have changed. Re: Confused?
I would never leave my gun in the car where I would be gone for more than a couple of minutes. This includes places like restaurants, movie theaters, shopping centers, gyms, golf courses - anywhere where a potential thief would have ample time to break in. I sure wouldn't be seen placing anything in the trunk of my car when I arrive at a destination, either. There are thieves out there who sit and watch for people locking things up in their trunk knowing they have value. I was Chief Information Security Officer for a major company and despite warning our employees of the potential for theft by doing so we had a number of notebook computer stolen from cars while they stopped for lunch. If it isn't already locked up and secure before getting out of the car take it with you is what we told them.

Re: Confused?
Do you use a locker at the gym? If so while you're still in your vehicle move your pistol into one of those pistol vaults and lock it and put it in your gym bag. Leave your bag in a locked locker. At this point I would consider this as transporting and not CC since its not readily accessible. If I didn't feel comfortable putting it in a vault in the car that is what I'd do.

Re: Confused?
I'm thinking its time to get a home gym. I will never understand why a company would post these signs it's basically inviting trouble.

Re: Confused?
I have always preferred working out at home. No drive, no gym fees and no waiting for equipment.shb972 wrote:I'm thinking its time to get a home gym. I will never understand why a company would post these signs it's basically inviting trouble.

Re: Confused?
If you feel the need to leave Maybelle in the car then get a Gun Vault w/cable and lock it up. These things are pretty tough. Make it a little difficult to get to.

Re: Confused?
Possibly true, but if the wording in the contract was not effective notice according to Texas laws and they are only now posting proper notice I would still think the rules have changed. But, that's just me.rtschl wrote:Check your contract.
