San Angelo Fairgrounds
The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association has placed 51% signs on two of the four gates. They told me that the TABC told them to put them up. The local TABC office is closed today. The person at the Stock Show and Rodeo Association that told me that had no idea what a 51% sign was. She said that there is no way that their alcohol sales are 50% of the revenue.
Looks like it is going to get the run around. The city referred me to the Stock Show and Rodeo Association.

Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
They ARE listed as a RED location. All you can do is challenge the fact with the TABC that ticket and other sales will be more than 51% of their revenue and that the RED license is incorrect.

Thanks, Keith. That is really interesting.

Follow up.
The TABC checked into it and determined that the signs were put up in the wrong location. They apply only to the "beer barn", and not the entire fairgrounds. The agent told my brother that they will relocate the signs soon.
Thanks to my brother's persistence for getting this worked out. It pays to dig around sometimes.

What about the coliseum having a 51% sign up during the rodeo. I buy tickets to every performance and I don't think that there is anyway that they make 51% off of alchaol sales how can we find out if it is a leagues sign.

That would fall under a professional sporting arenaBodyguard380 wrote:What about the coliseum having a 51% sign up during the rodeo. I buy tickets to every performance and I don't think that there is anyway that they make 51% off of alchaol sales how can we find out if it is a leagues sign.
Take away the Second first, and the First is gone in a second

Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
Then why do they even need a sign of any kind.
Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
They really don't. 51% may not be valid, but sometimes they will post a 30.06 sign at a professional sporting event just to remind everyone no carry.Bodyguard380 wrote:Then why do they even need a sign of any kind.

Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
Update: They have yet to move the signs. The concession company says they did not place the 51% signs at the gate. They say that theirs are properly place on the beer barn. The guy asked my brother to tell TABC to stop emailing him about the signs. LOL
The stock Show and Rodeo say they do not know anything. The SAPD told my brother that "they are not in the sign business". I have called TABC local and Abilene and did not get an answer. But, I left messages.

Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
Talked to two police officers tonight at the carnival and they said you could not carry out there. I ask why and one said there are some places you just can't carry. They were very short on the subject and you could tell they did not care to talk about it.
Re: San Angelo Fairgrounds
The TABC has taken down the 51% signs. It is legal to licensed carry in the fairgrounds. The 51% signs are at the beer barn. It seems that the SAPD does not want folks carrying at all. The officers are either not well versed in the law, or they intentionally misinformed you.Bodyguard380 wrote:Talked to two police officers tonight at the carnival and they said you could not carry out there. Having the pleasure of having grown up in Angelo, I can confirm it is willful misinformation on behalf of the SAPD.Micky wrote:The TABC has taken down the 51% signs. I was at the fairgrounds all day today, looked for signs and saw zero...
