In a high profile issue (as this is right now), it's very unlikely that a priest will contradict his bishop or cardinal on policy. If the diocese orders 30.06 and/or 30.07, they will be put up.

The Galveston-Houston Diocese has made it local option for each parish. St. Benadettes in Houston is posted with both signs. Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood is not posted at all.

I will never set foot in any church that denies my right to self defense. Not for any reason.

Interesting point - aren't the Swiss guards at the Vatican armed?ScottDLS wrote:Wal-Mart is owned by the shareholders of the corporation, must they give you permission via a resolution to carry past a 30.06, or will the local store manager do?
Does the Holy Father have to issue a Holy Writ for you to have permission to carry, or must the College of Cardinals hold a vote? What about in the Embassy of the Holy See?

LUBBOCK, TX
An arrest warrant made public on Monday morning described the events leading up to a deadly shooting Sunday evening outside St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 2316 Broadway Street.
Pete Garcia Jr., 55, was arrested in Levelland in the hours after the shooting when he turned himself in.
The warrant said Garcia and Judy Ann Garcia were married for 32 years and their divorce was finalized in October.
Judy Garcia started dating the shooting victim, Orestes “West” Garza, after the divorce. Judy Garcia told Lubbock Police that within the last two weeks Pete Garcia left her messages that he purchased a firearm and he was “going to fix the problem.”
Judy Garcia told police that she in fact reported these messages to LPD when they happened and she reported that Pete Garcia was seen driving near her home several times. According to the warrant, she was told there would be an investigation but “nothing more could be done.”
After mass at St. Elizabeth’s, Judy Garcia got into a vehicle and waited for Garza. But then she saw Garza was running, and Pete Garcia was chasing him with a gun in his hands.
The arrest warrant said, “She observed the gun pointed at the victim’s back and then heard (4) four gunshots.”
Garza collapsed, and Pete Garcia ran away, according to the warrant.
Garza was taken to University Medical Center and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The warrant said Pete Garcia admitted to a friend that he shot Garza. Garcia threw the gun in a field south of Sundown. He also admitted the shooting to his son, according to the warrant.
Garcia was held Monday morning in the Hockley County Law Enforcement Center on a $1,000,000 bond. There was no immediate word on when he would be transferred to Lubbock.

Re: Dallas Diocese posting all churches .3006 and .3007 !!
My church has posted both 30.06 and 30.07 a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. For now I've gone to mass unarmed. I thinking about writing to the Bishop urging him to reconsider. This is very disappointing.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

You should write your Bishop. For 20yrs licensed concealed carriers haven't been a problem. So the church is basically saying now that people who haven't been any trouble for a generation are not allowed in.C-dub wrote:My church has posted both 30.06 and 30.07 a couple of weeks ago.
