No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
This is the new sign in 3" tall letters on all the glass doors of the City of Houston Permit Office.
So since my firearms are unlicensed, how does this affect me?

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
That's funny! I doubt many of us have licensed firearms. I'm sure they meant to say, No unlicensed carry of firearms allowed. That's what they have on the liquor stores where I live. Not sure but I think it's a TABC sign.

I guess they are trying to tell criminals they aren't welcome. As though they respect any laws.

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
I'm actually curious. Is there such a thing as a licensed firearm in the state of Texas? Is this a specific legal term that refers something particular? Or is it referring to a license to carry a handgun? If so, this sign means that the unlawful carry of a handgun is prohibited (isn't that kinda obvious?).

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
I see signs all over the place saying "No unlicensed carry of firearms allowed." Since I am licensed to carry, I view them as an invitation to carry in their store!
Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
Remember these signs are referring to possession.
It is the possession that is licensed or unlicensed. Not the gun itself. Guns are registered or not.

Just to be clear, there is no gun registration in the state of Texas. Period.

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
So today I'm back at the City of Houston permit office.
I'm also trying to pass a kidney stone.
I'm in the first floor lobby impatiently waiting to get a Project Number (long story). I can't sit still, so I am pacing the length of the lobby back and forth waiting for my number to be called. I'm tanked up on water, but the pain is on the ragged edge of manageable. I'm wearing my mid length leather coat and I am not carrying.
I am repeatedly walking past the security desk as I walk back and forth. It has two armed security guards and one armed on or off duty police officer in uniform.
It is taking forever as I want it to be over quickly. I am reaching under my coat and raising it and rubbing/massaging my side to help with the pain.
I notice after a while I have attracted the attention of the police officer. He is now paying attention to me and only me.
I'm sure if I was sweating and had a Jihadi beard, I would have been stopped and questioned.
Just glad there wasn't two or three of us pacing and reaching under our coats.

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
Might have asked the cop if he had any experience in passing those stones. Get some sympathy perhaps. Hoping here that you are feeling better.

Re: No Unlicensed Firearms Allowed
My local Walmart recently posted signs in English and Spanish reminding people that they had to have a license to carry.
I assume there are folks carrying now that honestly think OC means "no license required", or perhaps a few that know better, but don't care.
I think Walmart is handling things in a very pro-2A manner so far... from what I've seen myself and read here.
