Dallas Diocese posting all churches .3006 and .3007 !!

#1

Post by spx74 »

As an employee of the Dallas Catholic Diocese, it made me sad to read my email saying the bishop is having all churches posted with both signs. I guess I will find work else where and worship else where.
I wonder how much this will affect the Sunday collection
Just a month ago, a man with apparent mental problems, went by Divine Mercy church in Mesquite and wanted to kill a priest as I understand, he left and I hear he was arrested. Don't think it was in the newspaper. I don't like criminal Safe Zones :patriot:

Be certain to inform the Bishop of your decision.

I am not buying it until someone actually sees them posted.

New signs, very valid, every entrance that I was able to check.
First one I had to return to the truck - shame. I seldom wear a suit, but when I do it fits much better with my galco vhs underneath...since it was bespoke wearing it.

Second was non issue since was going directly from the church to Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery - federal property.
When you say "recently" was this before or after December 31? If it was December 31 or earlier, and the 30.06 sign had the new wording. it would have been invalid and you could have carried, I believe.

I would recommend writing your grievances down on paper and nailing them to the door of the church.

Please be aware of the attached diocesan policy on Concealed Handgun and Open Carry restrictions; the new diocesan Weapons Policy is effective January 2016. The policy in essence prohibits open carry or concealed weapons on church premises as long as signage is posted communicating that open and concealed weapons are prohibited anywhere on church property. We will see this new signage within the next few weeks at which time we will post notice in our church bulletin.
This I copied from my email, dated 1/8/16

Keep in mind a properly posted church is also a 46.035 violation.

Also catholic in the Austin diocese. If they pull this stunt here I'm either going somewhere else or I'll just stop going at all. This is stupid crap to put up with. that being said, the Dallas Diocese is definitely going full retard on this issue. Here is their policy on this issue: https://www.cathdal.org/news-item?r=MJ9 ... end_to=%2F

For an institution that claims to be loving, accepting, and welcoming of all walks of life, they certainly got deep intot he legal mumbo jumbo.

The Ft. Worth Diocese is following a similar path to Dallas and are also being unbelievably short sighted on this http://www.fwdioc.org/diocesan-weapons- ... 1-7-16.pdf

The Tyler diocese seems to have their heads on a little straighter. They've merely asked that people don't open carry but seem to be okay with concealed carry.

Tyler Diocese statement: https://www.dioceseoftyler.org/news/201 ... carry-law/

For anyone who follows Fr. Z's blog, he has a good write-up here about whether a catholic bishop, may, as a function of his office, prohibit people from conceal carrying at mass or if its strictly a legal issue (spoiler: he concludes that a catholic bishop does not have this authority) http://wdtprs.com/blog/2016/01/ask-fath ... -is-legal/

To all my Catholic friends, you are welcome to worship with my wife and me at my Baptist church until you can find a diocese which accepts your guns. Only one thing...... we are posted 30.07, but the church is very friendly to concealed carry.

They were under the impression that it was already off limits reading the Fort Worth Diocese notice. Unbelievable that they are this short sighted.

Quite frankly I am in a state of shock right now.

I guess the Knights cant bring their sabers to to church anymore, either.

I"m in the Fort Worth diocese but I did see the Bishop Farrell's Response to Open Carry
http://bishopkevinfarrell.org/2016/01/open-carry/

Somebody needs to talk to him about gun laws.
