CHL application documents

I received my CHL earlier this month. I scanned all the application documents in a pdf file before I submitted. Is there any reason to keep paper copies of any of this?

Thanks. Chris

I would keep them until you have plastic in hand. I say this b/c, worse case scenario, DPS loses your app, your computer hard drive crashes and your backup method didn't quite "back up".

Got plastic in hand a few weeks ago. Interesting how that CHL and extra pound or so on your side changes things. I'm much more reluctant to back myself in a corner and find myself looking for ways to flee as opposed to "standing my ground". Kinda like seeing the world through a different set of glasses. Does that pass with time or is it a new way of seeing things?

You are thinking correctly. The best self defense situation is one you can avoid. Anyone who doesn't try to look for a way out, stand your ground or not, is not very smart IMO.

And, since you have plastic in hand you shouldn't need your documents in paper form. Besides, a .pdf file is a 'copy' of the documents, so why keep a paper copy. If for some reason you need them then print out another 'copy'. :thumbs2:

And welcome to the forum! :tiphat:

In that case, shred away! Sorry, should have read your post more thoroughly.

It is a new way of seeing things.

Just knowing in the back of your mind where an altercation can end up causes you to be a lot more polite and to let a lot of things slide.

There have been a couple of times when I've thought to myself "that guy is lucky I carry a gun." I would never actually say that, of course.

I totally agree. I have to admit that before I got my CHL that I had serious "road rage". Since then, my motto is "don't sweat the small stuff, save it for when it REALLY counts!" I don't want to lose my CHL over something that can be avoided by me.
