First time carrying

It was a bit odd but I've been breaking the holster for over a month. I was a bit self conscious about it but that quickly wore off. Honestly, my wife didn't even know I was carrying so I'm pretty sure none of the sheeple noticed. Feels good to know I could protect myself or my family if I had too.

My first day carrying was today too. Was a little longer than I wanted though. I was just going to carry to the gun range (which is CHL friendly all the way up to the firing line), but ended up going to storage, clothing store, lunch, grocery store, and Target. Range time was fun, was with my mom which I just bought her a XDM9 (Stainless Steel + OD Green) for her birthday and was her first time shooting it today. Then let her fire a couple rounds of my 30-06 that she hadn't fired yet.

I'm one week away from having my plastic for one year. It does get easier but there are still some days when I feel like I'm sticking out like a sore thumb. Like you suggested, 99% of folks have no clue there may be wolves about. The apprehension I once had has transformed into a sense of comfort and security...No, comfort isn't the right word, nor is security. Maybe responsibility is the word I'm looking for. I feel able to respond to a threat, and instead of feeling comfortable and secure I keep my senses tuned to code yellow. One never knows when wolves may be about.
