Very nice. Welcome to the forum and CC. Where all did you go?

You will never stop thinking about it, but you will stop obsessing about it.

You will get to a point where not carrying has the same awkward feeling as you get when you realize your fly is down! And the Walmart / whataburger would have only been better if there had been a gun range or academy trip in the day!

Congrats ...
I realize if mine is missing, but don't think about it much when I'm wearing it.

Good kydex reinforced belt and good holster and cover it and I forget about it.

Teachers:
I no longer work on a campus, but did back in the 1980s
If I did now ...not sure what I'd do.

If you do ask and get denied ...
I'd contact every republican and firearms owner and every person who carries under the MPA and be sure that...
both of us ...
documented the denials.

Reason:
During the Nevada Legislative hearings for school/campus carry it was brought up that there is already a mechanism in place allowing for licensed campus carry by licensees .... that they can get written permission and carry (like it is here)

So they recessed to gather documentation and proof that people had asked and been denied so they could show a need to legislate campus carry.

Not many had asked (figuring they'd be denied) so since no one asked it must not be an issue so they didn't pass it as it was legislation to fix a problem no one could prove existed.

Two mistakes...asking the SRO and asking Admin. Don't ask...don't tell. It is their responsibility to include it in the employee policy handbook. Now that you have asked, you have put it on the radar and they may make it policy. Additonally, they have now given you notice and you are basically banned until the person who told you that you couldn't no longer works there...unless they put it in writing...in which case you are banned until you no longer work there. IANL...but that is my understanding. Shoulda asked here first.

In my district it already is in writing (albeit deeply buried in many pages of policies). I asked because my CHL instructor told me I was fine to leave my firearm secured in my car, but I wanted to make sure. I don't believe that when dealing with a school district "don't ask, don't tell" is a wise choice.

That's why parking lot bill needed to cover school employees and City/County/State employees until Campus Carry and Courts Carry passes. (County Court Annex building houses the DPS, County Tax appraiser, etc etc etc and city/county/State CHL employees are forbidden to carry past the metal detectors at the Court House entrance of the building...) So for example non-LEO employees of the DPS who are CHLs (or tax office secretaries at the County tax appraiser's office) must be unarmed since their office is in the Courthouse annex building.
(I'm not familiar with the parking lot bill much since didn't affect me as I don't go to chemical plants and am retired)

This link http://www.texasguntalk.com/forums/texa ... 011-a.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has a good summary and text of the Parking Lot Bill. School districts are one of the exceptions to the law. Don't know that we'll ever be able to convince the lawmakers to consider letting responsible citizens protect themselves and others in schools. We have a full time liaison officer at our middle school who is armed, but he is one person. I'm in an isolated part of the building, far away from his office, and I really worry about what would happen if one of the kids went "off".
