Going to Disney World!
Going to DIsney World (Orlando, FL) over Holidays...and hold a Texas CHL only...
Spent some time on http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Made the following basic observations related to traveling, etc...Looking for any contradictions/omissions that anyone may be aware of...
Lousiana:
Reciprocity - Yes
Must show license/inform LEO - Yes
Signs - Any sign has force of law/Must have permission from individual to enter with CC.
Unusual Prohibitions - "Firearm Free Zones" around schools (1000ft from schools).
Mississippi:
Reciprocity - Yes
Must show license/Inform LEO - Yes
Signs - Signs easily readable from 10 ft have force of law.
Unusual Prohibitions - places of nuisance (ie. Crackhouses/Brothels, etc...?)
Alabama:
Reciprocity - Yes
Must show license/Inform LEO - Not addressed specifically, but you must have the license with you, thus presenting it is probably a good idea...
Signs - No signs of any kind have force of law. You may be personally asked to leave and must do so by law.
Unusual Prohibitions - You can pretty much carry anywhere with license...!
Florida:
Reciprocity - Yes
Must show license/Inform LEO - Yes
Signs - No signs of any kind have force of law. You may be personally asked to leave and must do so by law.
Unusual Prohibitions - places of nuisance (ie. Crackhouses/Brothels, etc...?)
Disney - Policy is no guns, but it seems they do not have metal detectors and only check bags. Thus properly concealed on your person should work. However, spotted and asked to leave then leaving is legally required....I probably will not carry in the park, but will definitely carry while traveling, etc...
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Going to Disney World!
It's our favorite time of year to go!! Unfortunately the school calendar screwed the vacation for this year.
I don't recall ever seeing a metal detector or no gun sign.. But I don't think I would ever carry in the park anyway.. Maybe at downtown Disney but that's it..

They search your bags pretty well at the parks, it's for a weapons search. You will be fine at the Disney resorts and down town Disney.
I took my family on vacation there for the first time, awesome experience, have a great time!

worth noting that any place that serves alcohol for on premises consumption in LA is off limits
since pretty much every restaurant serves, pretty much every restaurant is off limits for CC

Re: Going to Disney World!
Just got back from there. They search bags, but no metal detectors or wands at the entrances.
If you carry, remember one thing: Disney security is everywhere. You won't see them, because they blend in. So be careful, or leave it in the room. If you're staying on site, all rooms have safes.
I agree that the only place you would need to carry is Downtown Disney, and if you're staying off site.

My grandchildren are being dragged to Disney world over Christmas again. Stinking rat gets to see my grandchildren more on Christmas morning than Mrs. Anygun and I do. The place ought to close on Christmas.

We're going in February, so I appreciate the post and any updates.
Question: I hold a Texas CHL which prohibits carry into an amusement park. Well, since I'm licensed in Texas, under Texas rules, does reciprocity mean that I'm prohibited from carrying into an amusement park in a different state even though their rules don't specifically prohibit?

Re: Going to Disney World!
This will be our fourth time at Disney over Christmas/New Years. The best time was when we arrived New Years Eve. The parks were packed New Years Eve and New Years Day, and then they were absolutely EMPTY the next day and the rest of the week....
This time we will be there between Christmas and New Years...busiest time of the year...
Not intending to carry in the parks, but this will be my first interstate travel trip since I got my CHL and I do intend to carry while traveling....
Thanks for the heads up on the restaurant issue in LA...good to know.

When you are in another state that we have reciprocity with, you must conform to THAT states law and regulations on carrying under athority of a CHL. If they don't prohibit carry in an amusment park, then you can carry.MikeStone wrote:We're going in February, so I appreciate the post and any updates.

As a note, you can carry in an amusment park in Texas unless it is properly posted with a 30.06. Read all the way through 46.035 to section (i) http://law.onecle.com/texas/penal/46.035.00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Going to Disney World!
I thought it was interesting that Alabama has reciprocity...However, they are a "may issue" state that requires application with a local Sheriff and stipulate:Keith B wrote: When you are in another state that we have reciprocity with, you must conform to THAT states law and regulations on carrying under athority of a CHL. "if it appears that the applicant has good reason to fear injury to his or her person or property or has any other proper reason for carrying a pistol, and that he or she is a suitable person to be so licensed." There is also a reference on the handgunlaw.us site stating that local sheriff's may place individual restrictions on permit holder in addition to the state law restrictions (of which there are very few!).
Re: Going to Disney World!
do a quick google on guns at Disney. There is a lot of information on it and some good advise.

Not exactly....LOL.
My mom is a 10 year survivor of Ovarian Cancer. Her cancer is still active and she has had chemo of all kinds off and on (mostly on) for the whole 10 years....After she was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage IIIc tumor (57%, 5 year survival rate), She wanted to take us all (10 kid/gandkids) to Disney for a special treat knowing that it may be her last chance to make memories with her Grandkids....
Well, here we are 10 years later, two Holiday Disney trips and 3 Holiday cruises later heading back to Disney for another last chance and looking forward to 10 more!
She is an astounding fighter...

May God bless her and your family richly. Hope you get to enjoy many more of these trips. They're worth far more than a Super Bowl.leftyonly wrote:Not exactly....LOL.
