Noticed your handle and the USAF in your tag. Were you an F-16 pilot? My Father flew F-16's around 88-92 as well.. Where were you stationed in that time?

My dad had to wear one of those for years.

Yeah, a "bump" might be a colostomy bag, or urine bag or insulin pump, or other medical device too.

I carry mt PDA on my belt too (Personal Defense Assistant)

Hospitals, like churches, amusement parks, and government meetings, are only off limits if you are given proper §30.06 notice. You have to keep reading in the statutes to get to these exceptions--§46.035(i) is probably the most-overlooked section of the Texas carry laws.

Right.

I took my niece to her doctor yesterday and in her pediatrician's office (next to a tanning salon and nail salon in a strip shopping center) there was a sign on the glass at the front receptionists' desk in English and Spanish on 8.5"x11" paper saying "State Law prohibits carrying a handgun on these premises" I guess its purpose informs unlicensed persons to leave them in their car where the MPA covers them, because they are correct that State law prohibits persons without a license from carrying there ...I took a seat and waited for my niece....There was no 30.06 sign.

(I'm not a lawyer, so I won't be giving them legal advice about wording, signs etc so I won't get investigated by the State for the criminal offense of UPL, Unauthorized/Unlicensed Practice of Law)

It is my understanding that a Dr.'s Office is not by default a hospital any more than a lawyer's office is a courtroom. IANAL

It doesn't matter. Hospitals have to post 30.06 just like any another business, if they want to keep your guns out. The exception to this would be university owned teaching hospitals.

You mean we aren't using military time?

I seem to have this spot between 2 & 3 that's just perfect for a subcompact, but I prefer to carry a LCP there. My shirt seems to drape over the gun perfectly.

Perhaps this is too much information. Perhaps I should loose some weight.

Just doing a little math...

I seem to recall that Texas just recently issued their 400,000th CHL. The population of Texas is approximately 26 million. The math says that just over 1.5% of Texans are license to carry. So, considering that not all CHL holders are carrying and not all carriers are CHL holders, that means that on average about 1.5% of the people you see will be carrying. That's fairly slim odds. All that said... I look too and so far I haven't noticed anyone I've even suspected is carrying. :txflag:

I actually ran accross that statistic earlier today and was surprised it was so low! I'm not sure what percentage I would have thought it would be, but I guess part of me still thinks more Texans would carry guns like cowboys!

I found that stat in a brief written in favor of conceal carry on college campuses in Texas. I also found an interesting stat that applied to me: only .5% of people in their 20's have a CHL. I guess wisdom typically comes with age... :thumbs2:

Although, according to my poll in the off-topic forum (which is completely unscientific), it looks like there are certain groups of people who are more likely to have CHLs so that if you have one, the people you come into contact with (those being people like you) are generally more likely to be carrying than the average person.

:iagree: That would be the group of people one chooses to be near or associate with. However, I was actually referring to the percentage of people we see (up to the point of a brief "encounter") in the daily comings and goings of our lives. These are the people that a blanket type stat could possibly be applied to. :-)

Mmmm... this logic only works for some people though. I mean, 99% of people I encounter on a daily basis are either people I work with (of whom I have no clue if any of them have a CHL or not) or strangers at public venues. I am not necessarily "like" my co-workers in regard to ideals on gun laws or carrying laws as they are just my co-workers. I guess if I was retired (I wish) and only hung out with guys at the gun club, then obviously my chances of being around a CHL would be much higher. I don't think your logic applies to most people in their daily lives though.
